Aircon General Servicing S$54

One year ago it was S$45 including gst, now S$54 also including gst, meaning S$9 increase, 20% increase! That 1% gst increase become 20% increase, wah kns, these days everything getting expensive, have to tighten belt, I think I will stop buying those 20 sticks cigarettes, just buy those hand-roll and roll myself, should be able to save a lot of money. Best is don't smoke, but seriously hard to quit after smoking so many years.

Aircon Seems to be Ok Now

https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2023/05/aircon-guys-came-to-check-aircon.html It's been about 2 months since the aircon guys came to check the gas leakage, so far aircon still maintain same performance, so I guess it's fine now. I think most likely is the piping somewhere not tighten properly, they tightened and now ok, next time if install new aircon better remind the installers to double check the piping to make sure everything tightened before they leave.

Aircon Guys Came to Check Aircon

https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2023/04/aircon-gas-leak.html Wednesday managed to reach the Malaysian guy, then yesterday he and two other guys came to check, they said afternoon 3pm to 4pm but didn't come, he called me and said he will be late and come around 5pm-6pm, then 6:30pm still never come so I called, he said he keeping stuff and will come afterwards, finally came at almost 8pm, but can tell they looked tired and came from other site (he told me they came from Woodlands), probably busy with other installations. They checked the gas pipe, one point leading out of the fan coil unit, another point leading into the compressor, both no leakage, the guy said the gas leaked until left half, he used some meter to check, used a sponge and some white stuff that looked like soap, but he confirmed that for his part no leakage; they can only access the pipes that they installed, they cannot access inside the fan coil unit or compressor to check because warranty is under Dai

Aircon Gas Leak

Image
https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2023/03/aircon-replacement-complete.html Aircon installed on 08 Mar, just nice one month later starting to get less cold, on 19 Apr I called the guy who did the installation, told me to try set 18 degrees and if still not cold, call him and he will come check. I tried and seems to be cool but not as cold as just installed, didn't pursue further, I just keep it around 23-24 degrees, but now set lower and lower at 20 degrees and still not cold, aircon is kind of like just blowing cool air but not cold air, wife keep complaining hot. I thought it's dirty or what but a bit unbelievable since it's brand new, washed the filter, didn't help, called a cleaning company to come check today, the guy told me it's a gas leak, he said the aircon is not dirty, he asked me when was aircon installed, told him last month, he looked surprised, he told me to go back to the people who installed the aircon because if he do it for me he will hav

Update on Courts Refund

https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2023/03/regarding-courts-refund.html So I finally got my refund processed back into my credit card on 01 Apr, in total took almost one month. Thought I should share the series of events. 08 Mar - Called Courts @ 1800 222 6868 to ask for refund, told me if pay by credit they will refund to card in 10-14 days. 25 Mar - Waited more than 14 days no refund, went down to Courts store of purchase, staff said no record of refund, staff tried to process but said he can't initiate, took a photocopy of invoice and said will call me following Monday. Staff also mentioned that for refunds it has to be done in store. 29 Mar - No call from store. Called 1800 222 6868, told me they will check and get back same day or tomorrow and they confirmed that they did submit a refund to store on 08 Mar and if the store does not respond, they will reach out to the store manager. 30 Mar - Someone from the hotline called and told me I can go down to store to get the

Regarding Courts Refund

https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2023/03/aircon-replacement-complete.html Thought I should share this since people might not be aware (I'm not aware lol). I bought an aircon from Courts, they installed it early this month, end up no need steel bracket but I already paid for it via credit card. Tried calling Courts at 1800 222 6868, quite hard to get through, when I finally did, a lady picked up, told her the story, she said she will process the refund and Courts will credit back into my card in 10-14 days. I waited more than 14 days and still don't see the refund, so I went down directly to the Courts where I purchased the aircon, surprisingly the staff said there is no record of the refund, so the staff helped to process the refund but unfortunately he can't initiate because nobody at somewhere to process (he mentioned have to post something back), I guess it's the warehouse or something, it's a Saturday by the way. He took a photocopy of my invoice, sai

Aircon Replacement Complete

Image
https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2023/02/bought-daikin-single-split-rkm25pvmg.html Today the aircon contractor came to do the replacement, came around 12:45pm, finished everything around 2:20pm, less than 2 hours. They removed the old units, put in the new units, replaced the pipes, cleaned up, so fast. 3 guys came, fast hands fast legs and very polite. End up they didn't need to install new steel bracket because I can reuse my existing one, they called their office and their office say to call Courts, so I called Courts and managed to get a refund, asked me if I paid by credit card I said yes, so they will refund to my card in 10-14 days. S$1249 - S$140 = S$1109 for aircon. Ahh, finally tonight can enjoy some cool air, maybe this month going to get hot so timing is just nice.

Bought Daikin Single Split (RKM25PVMG Outdoor / FTKM25PVM Indoor)

Image
I found this Daikin single split at Courts:  https://www.courts.com.sg/daikin-rkm25pvmg-ftkm25pvm-inverter-single-split-aircon-installation-smart-envi-ip164477 I capture the screens below in case later disappear. Seems like a pretty good deal, got disposal but T&C applies and S$50 discount, so me wife and baby went to a nearby Courts to find out more because not sure how the installation and disposal of spoil units works. Go down there can't find the unit, but the sales guy say online deal also can buy in-store, so I show him my phone, then I got two surprises, disposal is free but dismantle is not free, need to pay S$101 for dismantling, also got another stainless steel bracket charge if I'm using stainless steel bracket (wtf?), if use some other rack or what no need, I always thought only have stainless steel bracket, mine is stainless steel bracket so need to pay another S$140. Kns, can't see these two charges online, good thing we asked at the store Wife's wants

Aircon Spoil

Last week my aircon broke down, the compressor suddenly started to have very loud noise, after that both my indoor units turned off by themselves and show one blinking light, I guess something got fried. Yesterday got someone to check, says the compressor some electrical fault need to replace part, say need to go back and check for spare part. Today I called the company, told me they don't have spare part because my aircon is discontinued model, unlikely other vendor will have spare part. They also say their supplier is Mitsubishi and they checked directly. Oh well. https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2014/06/paid-500-deposit-for-aircon-fridge-and.html Bought the aircon in Jun 2014, served us well for more than 8 years, but I was kind of expecting a bit longer though. The company gave me a quote to install new aircon, also Mitsubishi, seems super expensive, 1 outdoor + 1 indoor unit 9000 BTU S$1933, I think I will just get from outside, I see Courts Daikin single split with

Wow, Aircon So Cold After Cleaning

Last year paid $208.65, this year have discount so paid only $203.30, same thing only the room do chemical wash, the living room general cleaning. Tonight can sleep really well.

Bedroom Aircon Dripping Water

Just now playing games and heard dripping sound, then realise the aircon dripping water, lucky discover fast if not the room all wet. Now book aircon servicing, think the water cannot go out to the pipe, somewhere must be choked. I guess tonight cannot turn on, good thing I have a living room aircon, now it become useful lol, hardly use it at all, only sometimes got people come then turn on otherwise just idle there.

Mitsubishi Starmex So Easy to Clean

Bought the aircon in 2014 , so far very happy with it because it is cold and very easy to clean. Today just cleaned and looked back, realized so fast 3 years already. Cleaning just need to remove filter and spray, then the vane part can easily detach and just clean with wet tissues. Just need to clean about every 2-3 months or when the filter start to get too thick with dust (can feel it because aircon will be less cold than usual). I don't call for the casual servicing, find it useless and waste of money, the only useful service is the chemical overhaul, but only need to do every 1.5 to 2 years, depending on how heavy the usage.

Had a Great Night's Sleep Yesterday

Been such a long time since I've had such a sound sleep, slept all the way, no disruption, feel so energized right now. Surprising it's thanks to the aircon, so clean, so cool, so comfortable, I think every year must overhaul once to maintain this kind of comfort. Looking forward to tonight's sleep, weekend never work so can sleep longer. By the way tomorrow going for RT, still have 15 sessions to go, sian, but next year I'm going MR, so it's the last one, finally, after so many years of torment.

Air-con Damn Cold

After having my air-con serviced earlier on this week, now the room temperature can even drop below what is set on the remote control, I set to 25 can drop until 24, maybe because these few days keep raining at night made it even cooler. Chemical overhaul really power, worth every dollar, 0% regret 100% satisfied. But a bit regret on the normal cleaning on my living room unit, not that they didn't do a good job, I realized that no matter how well they do it, what they are doing is just cleaning the exterior, I don't think their vacuum cleaner can suck out the dirt from deep inside, so I thought might as well don't clean it at all and just wait for it to get smelly and then do a chemical overhaul.

Had My Air-con Serviced Today

Image
After buying my air-con for about 2.5 years , this is the first time I called for servicing, must have accumulated a thick layer of crap deep inside so it was kind of smelly whenever I turned on the air-con. DIY cleaning is very limited, at most I only know how to take out the filter, if ask me to dismantle the unit I might not know how to assemble it, without damaging anything, so I thought better to leave it to the professionals. Actually I should have called for servicing sooner, I was skeptical about these air-con cleaning companies, not sure which one is good, all thanks to that Gain City, their air-con servicing totally cannot make it, disgrace the industry and make consumer lose confidence, never ever buy air-con from them or even use their air-con services. My air-con is Mitsubishi Electric System 2, so I booked a normal servicing for the one in my living room since we rarely use it and chemical overhaul for the one in my bedroom, total price including GST is $208.65. I boo

Starmex Aircon Very Easy to Clean

The vanes can be removed easily because the middle and left section can be unlocked and the inner vanes can be pulled down by unlocking it, exposing the fan takes less than a minute, but nothing much to clean because we only used it for about 2 months. I think overall I'm very satisfied with my aircon, the cooling power is solid, at 24 degrees it's so chilling, have the Genting Highlands feel, 25 is just nice for me but my wife prefer 24, I can't imagine 23 and below, must be super cold. The best part about this aircon is they have this silent fan mode, you turn it on and there is barely any sound coming from the aircon, it's as if the aircon is not even there, and the difference between silent mode and normal fan mode is just that silent takes a little bit longer to cool the room so no biggie. One problem with this aircon is the fan is too powerful, previously I was using auto fan mode and when the fan goes into high speed, it will vibrate and make a lot of noise,

3 Ways to Clean Aircon

1. General servicing This is the cheapest but most ineffective way. One fancoil costs between $35-$50, the servicing company will usually give some discount if you clean more units. The problem with this method is the technician will simply remove the outermost cover and filter and use a vacuum cleaner to try to suck out the dirt, but it's really very ineffective, I would say they can only clean out at the most 5% of the dirt in your unit, or worse, not even 1%. If you don't believe me, after they clean it, you try opening up the unit and see for yourself, it will still be full of dirt and mold, and if you put your nose close to the area where the air comes out, you will smell something like dirty socks. And the worst part is aircon servicing companies will usually suggest you to at least do this cleaning once every 3 months, just imagine how much money you will be wasting, you might as well open it up and vacuum by yourself, it doesn't take more than 10 minutes to clean

My Aircon is Not Noisy Anymore!

So yesterday I did some cleaning of my own, and it worked damn well! To my surprise the noise is gone, no more stupid clicking noise in the middle of the night, I really had a peaceful night of rest, damn shiok, woke up this morning feeling refreshed like never before, almost don't feel like leaving my bed, I also felt that the air is cooler than before. Now that I think of it, the noise could have come from poorly positioned fancoil unit, I really don't think the cleaning did the job, more like the adjustment and making sure everything is set tightly in place, I think that helped to minimize the vibration significantly and hence removing the noise completely, I don't know, that probably also helped to make it cooler, I guess?

Now I Know How to Clean My Aircon

These few days the fancoil unit in my room was very noisy at night, there was a clicking sound and it was very obvious in the middle of the night, today I was so fed up that I unscrewed and opened up the damn thing, found that it's not that difficult to open, just 2 screws and pull out the casing from the top. It was damn dirty, especially the bladed part, so much dust was and is still stuck in there, there's no way tissue or vacuum cleaner is going to do the job, unless it is a powerful vacuum cleaner, those strong enough to even suck in water, I can only try to wipe off and vacuum as much as possible, and finally, I still remember how to put it all back, now I have switched it on, I hope whatever that I did will get rid of the noise. Anyway, for those of you wondering what those aircon cleaning guys do, for normal cleaning, what they do is bring along a vacuum cleaner and vacuum off the dust, that's it, I paid $80 to clean two units, and they didn't do a good job,

Time for Air Con Servicing Again

My father says the compressor unit is getting noisy, I also find that my fancoil unit is getting noisy, according to my mom, the last cleaning was done on 03 Jul, it is about 4 months now, Gain City service guys recommend to clean every few months if not it will be noisy. Was thinking of trying those smaller cleaning companies but heard that my sister had a bad experience, I'm not sure which company but they broke her air con cover, don't know what cover, in the end that company had to pay for it since they broke it. I think I'll stick to Gain City, cleaning-wise, I think they did a pretty good job so far, I'm not adventurous enough to try the service of another company. Their pricing went up a bit, now it's S$80 for 2 fancoil units. If you are interested, you can check out their rates here .
