EWL and NSL MRT Always Smells of Shit

So due to my new job, I take the East-West Line and North-South Line on a daily basis, one thing that really annoys me is every ride always have this shit smell randomly, like somebody shit their pants or something, everytime I catch a whiff I quickly hold my breath. It's not like this is something new, I remember not so jialat but that was like more than 10 years ago when I used to take the EWL daily, after getting my own place, I only take direct bus. Take bus sometimes also have the shit smell but not as bad as MRT. I don't know what to say, shitting and farting is natural but to do so in train or bus with many people is just insane, people should practice good bowel habits, clear your shit regularly. Strangely Circle Line and Downtown Line I don't get the shit smell, maybe I don't take frequently enough but EWL and NSL every single fucking ride have the shit smell. Another thing is EWL and NSL always very crowded, if lucky can board a less crowded train but will sti

Cat A COE S$105,000

This is Sep 2nd bidding price, I think it's even more expensive than the car itself, it's like buying a car with the price of two or more cars. No wonder last weekend when I walked past what used to be a row of car dealers near my home, half the shop space empty, only left one shop but no people inside, I walked past the door automatically opened, I looked inside no staff or customer, totally no people in view but still have quite a number of expensive-looking cars. I don't drive, don't even have driving licence, don't think I can afford to buy car anyway especially now the COE so high, for me just take bus and MRT can already, car is for rich people.

Comfort's Pay for Street Hail Pretty Cool

Image
Today finally tried this pay for street hail feature, very easy to use, just use the comfort booking app and scan the QR code inside the taxi, it's actually a sticker pasted on the rear passenger seat window, I think in front should have too. So after scanning, it will "pair" the ride and the taxi vehicle number will appear in the app. Receipt below for example. Note that there is a small admin fee, not sure how it is calculated but it is about 2.78% of the metered fare.

Tried NETS Click on Comfort Taxi App

Finally Comfort provide this convenient payment service, just need to setup on the app which is pretty straightforward to do, and then set it as the default payment type. So how it works is you book the taxi as per normal on the app, since NETS Click is the default payment so don't need to do anything else. After the trip, just stylishly alight like how you alight from any grab taxi and the service will auto-deduct directly from your bank account. Note that even though the setup is to the card which may be a credit card (mine is a credit card), it actually is a direct debit service. Oh by the way, happy lunar new year!

LTA Reply on PMD Ban

Previously I dropped enquires to NParks and also LTA as my estate don't even have cycling path nor park connector network (PCN) so I asked them how my wife can make use of the PMD to send our daughter to kindergarten, NParks say they are working with LTA and will update me again. Today LTA replied, they pretty much just copied certain parts of the transcript of what Lam Pin Min said in parliament on 04 Nov 2019, the full transcript is here:  https://sprs.parl.gov.sg/search/sprs3topic?reportid=oral-answer-2079 Like that I might as well just read the transcript right. These government bodies really don't know doing what, just copy and paste without addressing citizen concern. I already provided postal codes of our home, the kindergarten and told them my estate don't even have cycling path nor PCN and they still reply to tell me can ride on cycling path and PCN, wah kin nan na like talking to wall. Sigh, ban also good la, if one day my family also kena knocked down then

Cannot Ride PMD Outside, Ride at Home! Haha!

This is call make full use of it lol.

PMD Owners in Singapore

Delivery Riders From this link looks like there are about 7000 delivery riders who are affected by the PMD ban on footpaths: https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/s7m-trade-grant-set-help-food-delivery-e-scooter-riders-switch-other-devices I think if the number is provided by the delivery companies, I suppose it is reliable since they would know which of their riders are using PMD, in fact when a person registers as their partner, they are required to indicate the mode of transport. All Other PMD Owners From these two links looks like there are about 100000 registered PMD, of which 20000 are UL2272-certified: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/parliament-e-scooters-to-be-banned-from-footpaths-from-nov-5 https://mothership.sg/2019/11/ul2272-certified-pmd-singapore/ As for the 100000 registered PMD, of which 20000 are UL2272-certified, I think at this point it doesn't matter whether they are certified or not, the point is money has been spent on the device

Wow $7m to Help Delivery Riders

Source This government implemented a ban so suddenly in the name of the greater good which resulted in breaking people rice bowl, but at least never leave them in the lurch, otherwise I would have thought our government is run by a bunch of robots with no emotions. Then again if you think about it, actually the government screwed up badly, just look at the stopgap measures that they are throwing out, it's just ridiculous and embarrassing. Screw up already then now trying to clean up. And the sudden ban leaving people with no reaction time only goes to show that they did not engage most if not all stakeholders or at least representative groups who can actually decide for the rest, that's why people are so shocked and frustrated. Reminds me of my project managers in current workplace, they just commit dates to users without engaging all stakeholders, end up date come cannot deliver, malu as fuck, everybody looks bad. Bunch of overpaid clowns. Brainless decisions anyone ca

Register PMD with LTA

Just checked out the registration of e-scooter at LTA website, have to pay $20 and also fabricate an Identification Mark which costs around $3. But what's the point, can't even use at all, surely park at home to collect dust no need to waste $23 to register right, this is so silly, still can't believe they just banned it overnight, damn fast and furious. Update Looks like I don't even need to register at all, because for people who wish to ride on cycling path and PCN, they need to register, for me since there is no cycling path and PCN at my area, my wife can't even use it at all haha. https://www.onemotoring.com.sg/content/onemotoring/home/buying/vehicle-types-and-registrations/E-Scooters.html Registering Your E-scooter To encourage greater rider responsibility and improve safety for all path users, owners who wish to ride their e-scooters on cycling paths and PCNs must register their devices with LTA.

Cannot Refund/Exchange Fiido Q1

Image
Today the shop got back to me and told me they are unable to refund or exchange, well at least I tried and have a closure with the shop, anyway this is not their problem, goods sold are non-refundable and not exchangeable is a very common term and condition in Singapore. But I'm not done with LTA yet, I have sent them an email about the sudden ban, I think everyone affected should send them an email, otherwise they might not know the impact they are causing. Anyway since cannot refund/exchange, might as well try to make use of it even though we can't really legally make good use of it, so told wife to open up the box and play in living room or the grass patch at our block lol. I think the Fiido Q1 is a great product, looks really cool, well-made and sturdy, but the alarm feels a bit wonky. I saw on youtube if someone move the handle bar it will sound off the alarm but mine doesn't do that, it will only sound the alarm if I kick the rear part of the device, or carry an

PMD Banned from Footpath

Source Just now while taking a break at work and happened to read this news, got a huge shock because I just ordered a Fiido Q1 last Saturday  and already paid for it. It was only yesterday that they announced the ban, just two days after I ordered and paid for the PMD! So banned from footpath means my wife cannot use at all, because our home to daughter's kindergarten don't even have cycling path or park connector network! Wtf! Anyway I dropped the shop an email, just trying my luck to see if I can get a refund or swap for other products, but this is not their problem really, how can a ban just suddenly pass like that without any regards for existing PMD owners and retailers who have probably invested quite heavily into the products, not to mention the UL2272 certification which I suppose is not cheap. But then again, the accidents and deaths caused by PMD is indeed a big concern, even I also fear for my daughter's safety when PMD rode past, and some really go very

Ordered Fiido Q1

Previously. Now there is the 11/11 sale, Fiido Q1 is $799 instead of the usual $899. So I ordered a black version, paid via PayNow, waiting for them to confirm and then send to my home. Delivery is free by the way. https://www.passiongadgets.com/fiido-q1-electric-scooter-36v-10ah-ul2272-certified/ The DYU D1 also on discount, now $499, I think last month or so was $699 then dropped to $599. https://www.passiongadgets.com/dyu-d1-seated-electric-scooter-ul2272-certified/ I'm now eyeing a foldable bike, not sure which one should I get but the Bickerton looks really nice and comfy.

Eyeing the Fiido Q1

I'm comparing Fiido Q1 against the DYU D1, both are pretty popular, but Fiido Q1 looks more comfortable and can carry more load, imagine my wife with daughter + groceries and school bag. By the way DYU D1 is now $599 at passiongadgets.com, usual price is $699. Fiido Q1 is $899 across all sites, looks like it is the standard, hopefully there is an offer coming soon. I think we might get either the black or white, but most probably black.

Switched to TransitLink SimplyGo on My POSB Everyday Card

The process was actually very straightforward even more so for cards without CEPAS. For those holding new POSB Everyday Card that doesn't come with CEPAS i.e. no EZ -Link/NETS FlashPay logo at the back of the card You can already start charging your bus/MRT trips to your card. Just use it like you normally do with EZ-Link or FlashPay. I guess you already know this haha. For those like me holding older POSB Everyday Card that comes with CEPAS i.e. with EZ -Link/NETS FlashPay logo at the back of the card Just to go any ticketing machine at any MRT station, place card on reader, choose "Check Transit Payment Mode" and ok all the way and it's done. The mode of your card will change to "Bank Card" which means it will charge directly to your master/visa. I also downloaded the SimplyGo app which I think is pretty nice, the trip updates are immediate for MRT rides, not sure about bus so have to try. It also have push notifications for every trip that ended

Comfort Taxi Finally Can Add Credit Card

Today went to see heart doctor with wife and baby, went there taking GrabTaxi, come back want to book but cannot get any taxi at all. So decided to open up the trusty comfort app and saw this new offering, now can add credit card, and if taking the ComfortRide, there is no admin charge; normally if pay by credit card there is a 10% admin charge. Reason why I say trusty is because Comfort no matter at what time or where, can always get a taxi, the availability is just amazing, but have to pay by cash because nobody is going to pay by credit card and get charged additional 10%, but now it has changed. Anyway the ComfortRide is a fixed pricing service, for example if the app quote $12.40, it means regardless of how long it takes, any traffic jam or delay, you still pay $12.40 so there is no benefit to the driver if the trip takes longer than it should be, but can see the pricing is roughly a bit higher but not huge difference, probably a few cents to a dollar, but I guess it is still

On The Way to Work

Image
Just another day of going to work in Singapore at 7:57 AM. Our public transportation system is actually very established, especially for our buses they cover probably all if not most of our tiny island.

Grab's New Cancellation Policy Take Effect 25 Mar 2019

Image
"What if I cancel because my driver’s not moving, or taking too long to arrive? Will I be charged? If there’s a need to cancel because your ride’s taking much longer than indicated to arrive, you will not be charged. Just as we’re able to show you your driver’s current location, we have safeguards in place to detect if the driver’s not moving towards you." This happened to me twice on the same day. I booked Grab and both drivers just go horlan and forced me to cancel on my end, I guess they must have picked up someone on the way to me and decided to let me wait and wait until I cancel. Really bastards, wasted 30 mins of my time. Anyway I have uninstalled Grab, the point here is they allow their drivers to waste my time, so what safeguards do they have in place for not wasting passenger time? Now I'm using the Comfort app, one bad thing is if use card have surcharge but it's fine since before I use Grab I also pay by cash so no issue, just that now I keep for

Grab Promo SAVE3

I started trying out Grab, damn easy to use, interface is very well-designed, no wonder so many people using. Compared to the Comfort app this feels more "young", confirm lots of younger people rather use this app than Comfort. If Comfort can redesign their app to cater to the young generation then better, if not eventually sure lose out. So now Grab have promo from 20 to 26 Nov, just enter SAVE3 to save $3. Just now I took $12.20 only have to pay $9.20, still got rewards points some more, then paid by Mastercard still have some rebate, wah so good.

Comfort Taxi Promo REDNOSE -$6

From 23 Dec to 26 Dec they have promotion, code is REDNOSE, one redemption per mobile number per day, first 20,000 only. So just now I saved $6 from my taxi ride home, total bill including booking was $17.80, only paid $11.80.

Comfort Taxi Promotion -$5

Image
Just now noticed that they updated their app, have a new promotion button at top right that looks like a bell, I clicked on it and saw this promotion, so I tried and got $5 off my ride. Ends tomorrow.
