Fix XML Error When Adding Read More Function

The read more function is here . Google Adsense New Payments System

They updated their Terms and Conditions . They also have a new payment system . One of the main changes is that they are calculating my earnings directly in Singapore dollars instead of US dollars. Another change is that my payment threshold is now $150 Singapore dollars instead of $100 US dollars, overall it's higher but well, doesn't really matter much. Now I'm more curious about how they make the conversion from USD to SGD, I hope I don't suffer a loss in payments after the conversion! Anyway let's see how.

Just Added a Read More Function and a New Related Posts Script

Haha, finally I found a good related posts script that looks nice and is easy to customize, the last one was terrible because I have no idea how I can customize it, the read more function is also great, now I can put more posts in my home page, previously some posts were too long and my home page looked really messy, at least now my blog has a more professional feel lol. Adjusted My Blog Layout

A few weeks ago I added a Qoo10 link to try out their affiliate program, it didn't work out, worse of all it probably is more distracting than useful, I think a lot of clicks are wasted on it, so today I took it out and changed my site layout to focus more on Adsense, we'll see how it turns out.

Received My First Adsense Cheque

See my  last post  when I finally hit 100 USD for payment to be released, I received it today, damn fast, I was expecting to receive it next month. And before I post it here, I checked the  Adsense Terms and Conditions  to ensure I am not breaking any of their rules. Going to Receive My First Adsense Cheque!

I have been running this blog since Feb 2011, finally I'm going to receive my first cheque, but it's not strange that it took me so long because if you look at my blog archive, you will see that I started posting regularly only in 2013, and it's only in that year that my earnings started to increase tremendously, so more posts obviously will bring in more visitors for me and I also have to thank my visitors for supporting me regardless of whether they are spammers or genuine visitors haha. Initially I thought I would only get my first cheque at the end of this year but I got more visitors in recent months so it really helps with the earnings, I think at current rate, I can probably get one cheque every 8 to 9 months, by the way Google will send out a cheque when my earnings hit $100 USD, so it's around that amount every time they send, not a big amount but better than nothing and I will keep the money for investment.

Roy Ngerng Managed to Raise $72,043.91

Source Wow, in a span of 4 days he managed to raise that much money for his coming court case, can see that there plenty of people who believes in what he fights for, but thing is defamation and speaking up for the people are two different things, I appreciate that he speaks up for everyone, but I do not condone defamation, and also I have no idea how Mr. Ravi is going to help him, I really think he should just let the case run its course without spending any money on legal defense, kind of pointless since the odds are stacked against him. And he has my respect for publishing all the transactions of the funds that he received from the public, that is very responsible of him, I really like that, where else can you find such transparency? Roy Ngerng Apologized to Mr. Lee

Source Good, I think it takes more courage to apologize than to write whatever he wrote previously, I always believe a person should be able to humble himself when necessary because how far can pride bring a person? I always repeat this Chinese saying to myself, 能屈能伸, meaning be able to endure when necessary and go the extra mile if need be. But some comments on his blog are really bad, I don't know why some people like to attack him, can't they just post something constructive instead? See. Stupid Comments Calling him faggot, coward, what the hell, at least he dare to show his face and talk about public issues openly, I read he even applied to be a NMP, so what have those people done, posting rubbish anonymously is very courageous?

Roy Ngerng Received a Lawyer's Letter from Mr. Lee

Source The problem stems from implying that Mr. Lee, Mdm Ho and Mr. Tharman are dishonest in the use of our CPF monies, furthermore making a comparison to the City Harvest case, not good, when you make such an allegation, you are giving them a chance to shoot you back, most important question is, can you prove any wrongdoing? If the answer is no, then be ready to apologize. So far only Mr. Lee sent Roy a lawyer's letter, at least the other two person didn't take action, I say Roy should just apologize and move on, no point being headstrong. Today while surfing the net, I found this page where there is a list of popular bloggers in Singapore, after going through the list, some I know like mrbrown and xiaxue, they are very famous and now that I think about it, mrbrown has been in the scene for a very long time, I remember listening to his podcast when I was 16 years old, that time I was working at an F&B outlet, when we were free, my team leader will play his podcast and we will listen and laugh together, those were the times. As for xiaxue, I visited her blog about 3 or 4 times just to check out the buzz and I think hers is more of a fashion and beauty blog so not really my taste, but the time when I really paid attention to her is when she commented about Steven Lim, her post titled " Top Seven Most Disgusting Bloggers (In the Singapore blogosphere) " really made me laugh, it's a very old post and it still makes me laugh now. Blogging As Additional Source of Income

Today while having nothing much to do at work, I looked back on my blogging history and realized that I started this blog in Feb 2011 , slightly over 3 years ago. Then I looked at my Adsense monthly earnings, it was miserable, first 6 months was $0 because I hardly blog at that time, then following few months was a few cents, $1+, then a few cents, still pathetic but at least there is improvement, a few cents is still more than $0! Then I made a lot of posts last year, in fact I made 257 posts in the year 2013! Wow, I surprised even myself, and with the increased posts, I noticed that my monthly earnings increased as well, from a few cents to $2+, to $3+ and to $4+! That's a lot of improvement, I know it's still pathetic but hey, at least I don't see a few cents anymore! And in Jan 2014, I broke the $8 mark, and this month of March, I broke the $9 mark! Embed Google Docs Into Blogger!

Recently I learned that I can do that so today I tried doing it to my stocks page , looks more tidy now, if you want to know how to do it, it's very easy, just follow the instructions here . The best thing about this is you can set it to auto-publish, so whenever you update the spreadsheet, it will automatically publish to wherever you put the embed code, so you only need to update one place and that's your Google document. Now that opens up more possibilities, I was thinking of how to put tables into Blogger, now with Google docs, I can do that easily, and I think it's very easy to manage since I can name each file.

The cheque was dated 27 Sep 2005, so I guess this happened a long time ago and I only know about this today, haha, I'm so outdated. Fat Adsense Cheque! Based on the exchange rate for today, 1USD=1.27SGD, so 132994.97USD=168783.92SGD, wow, that's a lot of money, but I'm not sure whether it's for a month's payment or several months, I don't know, but it's still epic, that's like more than 3 years of my salary. Salute. Update: Previously the image disappeared so somehow this post gave a wrong impression that I managed to earn so much with Adsense, pardon the misunderstanding, I did not make that kind of money, the cheque was posted by the blogger at ShoeMoney .

Blogger Comments Spam Filter

Recently I noticed a few attempts from people who tried to advertise their site by posting in the comments section, I know because whenever someone posts a comment, I will get notified via email, strange thing is when I go check out my site, I don't see the comments there. So I checked my blogger's comments section and found there is a spam section, those comments were automatically dumped there. So spammers, I don't really mind you posting but you got sniffed out by blogger, so too bad, and I'll leave it as it is because I don't wish to encourage spammers.

Blogger Dynamic Views Generates More Page Views

Yeah, but that doesn't mean I have more traffic, no wonder after I switched to my Simple template, I noticed a sharp drop in page views, actually it's just the way Dynamic views records page views. According to this Blogger Help post , If you enable Dynamic Views for your blog, you might notice an increase in pageviews. The reason for this is that Dynamic Views provides more specific information about actions on your blog. Specifically, every click to a post is recorded as a pageview. If a reader clicks on 10 posts, you’ll see those clicks recorded as 10 pageviews. In a traditional Blogger template, if a reader enters your blog once, they can scroll through ten blog posts in a single pageview. So while it may appear that traffic to your blog has increased, it's more likely that Blogger is simply recording more accurate data about your blog than was possible in the past. New Blogger Makes it Easy to Add Google Analytics

Wanted to add more tracking to my blog as I found the tracking that comes with Blogger doesn't seem to provide enough information, yeah it has the basic but I wanted more. I remember last time I tried using Google Analytics (GA), it was quite troublesome as I had to paste the tracking code on every page, if it's not on the page, it won't track that page, so if I have 100 pages, I have to make sure every page has it. Well, I could always use an include file or something similar, but provided I remember to include the file on that page. Anyway, coming back to GA after a few years, and using Blogger, it's so much easier now. So how to add GA to Blogger? First of all, obviously you need a Blogger and a GA account, so go create, by the way, this guide is meant for the new blogger interface and using the new template, I'm not sure of how to add GA to the old interface and classic templates so don't ask me. I'm currently using the premade template from blogger and it's called Dynamic View, looks easy to use to me but not sure about my visitors.
