So Many Scams Nowadays

These days scams come from all platforms, email, whatsapp, telegram, reddit, everywhere, I think telegram is easily the one with most scams, but that's a good thing, since it is such a scammy app, my defense is always up 100% of the time, and the only reason why I still keep it is because at work whenever system down, there is an alert sent to our telegram group, so no choice. Then recently there's this really frequent one, whatsapp, they will send via a business account, ask you to do some survey or some stupid shit, then they will pay you SGD 15, I always respond with curses, report and block. And this email, look at this moron, FBI agent want to transfer money to me hahaha, these people really jiak liao bee, I get this kind of email everyday. Also got ICA call me, press 1 for english, I press already china guy answer speak in mandarin hahaha wtf, ICA so desperate outsource call center to china? Then the call center so no standard press 1 for english become mandarin? Hahaha j

Today lunch time walked past a Singapore Pools outlet and saw the jackpot at S$8M, wonder why so high, anyway I bought a system 8 for S$28 and two $1 quick pick, total spent S$30. I don't usually buy, only wait for S$4M or more then buy, then every time after buying always dream of winning the group 1 prize haha, also good to be able to dream, have something to look forward to, but when check never win then sian half. I always like to imagine what I will do if I win S$1M, actually this amount to me is a lot, because I don't even spend much, no other commitment other than the usual bills, flat, insurance, wife and daughter, they also don't spend much, so I don't really need to work anymore and wife and daughter also can maintain same lifestyle. But I don't think I will quit my job immediately, probably work on first, maybe after 1-2 years see how, because sudden windfall needs to be thought about carefully, don't think I will tell anyone, only wife and daughter w

Trying Out Tectonic and Single Finance on Cronos

Have been lending out my $CRO on Single Finance since 20 Jun. So about 8 days I earned 395 $CRO, this is after deducting the network fees. On top of $CRO, I also earned a tiny bit of $SINGLE, not bad sia. The APY for lending out $CRO is about 12.65%, was around 12.58 last week, I calculate it's very close so they are really paying out the stated APY. Before that I tried Tectonic Finance, the $CRO lending APY quite low, around ~5% so I switched to Single Finance instead. I like these two, just simple lending out my assets, very low risk.

AI Getting Insanely Powerful - Midjourney

I think this year is the year of AI, where AI starts to really take off, I've read of many use cases and one of the more common ones is to generate images. I played with DALL-E and it kind of sucks, but there is one that stands out, Midjourney, the images it generates are insanely good, hard to believe it is generated by AI, some looks so real they can pass off as photographs. Below are some taken from their discord, in order of obvious to less obvious. The first 5 obviously you can see they are not real, first impression is artwork. If someone told me these houses are hand-drawn, I will believe it. This is like some fashion photo-shoot you see in magazines. This looks like a scene from some comedy movie. This one look so damn real, it's a photograph no matter how I look at it.

Bought iPhone 14 Plus for Myself and Wife

Went to Apple Store at Orchard Road, quite packed, they even run out of hand sanitiser, but first impression is "wow", feels very spacious and relaxing. At first still thinking of buying online as in Shoppee or Lazada or even Courts to save a few hundred bucks, after reading some bad reviews and horror stories, decided not to save that money for headache, just go down to Apple Store and buy and see why it is so highly recommended, anyway me, wife and baby also never visit Apple Store before. I think Apple Store is about the experience, everything put up swee swee, service is tok gong, plenty of service staff around, products are world class, you just have to walk in with money. It didn't take long before we grabbed one of the blue shirt guy and started ordering, to my surprise can just order from his device, just tell him what we want, he key in, then he go grab the products, then just pay on the spot on a small device that can accept credit card, no need to go any counte

Thinking of Upgrading Phone

I bought the iPhone 8 Plus 64 GB for my wife back in Nov 2017, my own iPhone 8 in Apr 2018, both more than 5 years already. Wife's phone got change the battery in Mar 2022 so her phone is still working well whereas my phone seems to be getting slower, maybe nowadays the apps getting more intensive or maybe because my battery maximum capacity dropped to 76%, and my screen feels so small compared to wife's because hers is 8 Plus so bigger screen. Now looking at iPhone 14 on Shoppee, got promo at S$1330 for the 128 GB version, then 25th-27th Jun got promo, not sure if it will be even cheaper. By the way if buying from Apple store online, the 128 GB version costs S$1513, a S$183 difference. iPhone 15 is rumoured to release in Sep 2023, hmm, actually to us don't really matter since our phones so old already, 14 and 15 are both major upgrade for us, more importantly this time I must get at least a plus so that the screen is larger, easier to see TradingView charts. Wife Seen Heart Doctor Today

Today went for the usual follow-up at NUH, last week did the echo scan, today the doctor compared the results and said it got worse so need to refer her to heart surgeon. But wife say she feeling well, she not keen to have surgery, but I see her always tired, walk up stairs also tired, cannot walk long distance, I guess we just meet the surgeon and see how lor, at least listen to what the expert say, ultimately she decide whether to go ahead or not, anyway not immediately type, even if later decide to do, also have to wait 2-3 months before the operation, that's what the heart doctor told us. My daughter also need heart surgery, now wife also need, sigh, but I trust the doctors at NUH, without them my daughter wouldn't even exist today. Hopefully everything turns out fine.

Scam Attempts Getting More Rampant

Saw two new type of scams, one is DBS Paylah via SMS, saying a transaction didn't go through and there is a link to click. Another is Whatsapp business account, getting a lot these few days, today one lagi best, even know my surname, must be data leaked from one of the online services I use but no idea which one, I usually just F them upside down, report and block. All these scammers should just die, useless trash with zero contribution to society. Then last few weeks keeping getting calls from "ICA", I tried to listen through, ask me to press 1 for English, I pressed 1 then one tiong kok kia answer and speak in Mandarin, lin lao bu ah, ICA outsource to China? I press 1 for English you speak Mandarin? You kan nin whole family die. That's what I wanted to say but not convenient cause got people around, if not I will F him upside down.
