Fitch Downgrade US Credit Rating to AA+

https://www.fitchratings.com/research/sovereigns/fitch-downgrades-united-states-long-term-ratings-to-aa-from-aaa-outlook-stable-01-08-2023 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_government_credit-rating_downgrades The last time US got downgraded from AAA to AA+ by S&P was on 05 Aug 2011, stocks, oil and Bitcoin went down, then gold went up, the dollar index eventually went up. This time Fitch downgraded the US from AAA to AA+ on 01 Aug 2023, I wonder what will happen, will history repeat? Anyway I have standby some cash to buy the Bitcoin dip.

DBS Personal Loan Pitfall

Image
https://www.dbs.com.sg/personal/loans/personal-loans/dbs-personalloan Look at the "Total W Fee" column, that is the real amount that you have to pay back when you borrow SG$10,000 from DBS. At the loan application screen, the EIR will appear lower when the tenure is longer, but in reality, the longer the tenure, the more you have to pay back! Watch out.

Wife Sold Gold

Image
Recently the gold price went up, so my wife found a buyer on Facebook, she sold 45g of gold for S$4000. That's about S$88.88 per gram, she told me after she sold it and asked me to help deposit it haha. So I checked out the gold price for the past 6 months, looks like the buyer bought it at the peak price, seems like my wife did her research I guess.

SPH Suddenly So Jia Lat

https://mothership.sg/2021/05/sph-ceo-apologises Last time their share price from S$3-S$4 now become S$1.52 as of 7th May 2021, that time thinking of buying but end up didn't buy, forgot why I didn't buy, but I notice their online straitstimes.com kind of desperate, asking for subscription fees when I can find the same news everywhere else. I ended up buying SingPost which is not any better, similar to SPH it also tank like shit, last Friday I finally sold off at S$0.73, made quite a loss (-S$17,583.31). Held on since 2017, thought it would improve, who knows it just keeps getting worse, recent financial announcement is bad, real bad, dividend shrink too, well at least I support for 4 years already. I remember one nice guy asked me to cut loss but I didn't, oh well. Singtel and StarHub also chui now, last time played a bit, earned a little by buying and selling fast. But whatever earnings I had all give back through SingPost already hahaha. SPH, SingPost, Singtel and Starhu...

DBS Cards Fee Waiver via iBanking(Guide)

Source Finally found out where to request for credit card fee waiver in the iBanking website. It is actually under the iBanking internal message system, the mail icon at the top right, then under Compose, then choose Credit Cards > Fee Waiver > then select your card.

Replacement of POSB Everyday Card

Recently found that my card a bit faulty, sometimes cannot read when paying by Master or EZ-Link sometimes also cannot read. This blog post is a record of how I replace my card. 1. Requested for replacement of card using the digibank app on 27 Nov. 2. Received new card with same number but different expiry date and code on 30 Nov. 3. Managed to update Starhub recurring bill online. M1 and town council need to send form. SP no way to update, emailed them. 4. Transferred balance of EZ-Link to my new card on 01 Dec, did it at one of the TransitLink Ticket Office, less than 5 mins settled. Got $20 Ang Pao from DBS

I signed up for the multiplier account in Jul this year, didn't know I qualified for a promotion where they give $20 to people who open new account. So this morning when I checked my bank account, noticed extra $20 referenced as "Online Acct Gift", thought who send me free money lol, actually is from DBS. Anyway the multiplier account not bad la, interest is good, for me I like all in one bank, since I already use their services so might as well just continue, any problem just look for one entity.

Wow, My One and Only SingPost Lost $8484.10

Looks like it is performing really badly, paper loss of $8484.10 lol, and my all time earnings totally gone. All Time Performance Cost 38,124.641 Market Value 32,517.09 Gain -5,607.55 (14.71%) Current Performance Cost 41,001.191 Market Value 32,517.09 Gain -8,484.10 (20.69%) So now if have money maybe can put into my DBS Multiplier Account instead, maybe half save another half average down on SingPost, 500 shares at a time, because I like the idea that they try to step out of their comfort zone and move into e-commerce. I must be crazy lol.

Opened DBS Multiplier Account

Image
The HR at my new job told me about the account and that people in the company were using it to credit their salary, actually I knew about the account because one or two years back I checked it out, I vaguely remember I didn't qualify or it sucked, so yesterday I went to DBS website to see what the hype is about and found that they revised the account, now it actually looks very attractive. I also found the following in their FAQ : So it looks like previously I didn't sign up because the interest rate was shit, have to transact $7500 a month to get 1.08%, otherwise just 0.05%. Based on the new structure I can get 1.9% for salary and credit card spending, or 2.2% if I buy stock via DBS Vickers, CDP dividend credit also count, wah not bad leh. Like that no need to think already, yesterday I went to ibanking and opened the account, online open is immediate, damn fast, then I also transferred some spare cash inside, nowadays so convenient open bank account at fingertip. ...

DBS Vickers Cash Upfront Commission Revised to 0.12%, minimum SGD10

Link It used to be 0.18%, minimum SGD18, but after the recent promotion which ended on 30 Jun 2018, seems like they made it a permanent 0.12% or minimum SGD10 which is a good thing. Note from my last trade:  0.12%, min $10, $5 rebate per trade, promo from 1 Apr 2018 to 30 Jun 2018, both dates inclusive. The rate for normal trading account remain the same at 0.28% or minimum SGD25 for traded valued at $50,000 or less.

SingPost Crashing into Abyss

I bought at $1.49 , now $1.32, due to the lower profit ending 31 Dec 2016. The dividend also shit, only $0.005 but at least they know to adjust since they are not making as much money. But I think it's good that they try hard to expand outside of Singapore, might be difficult at first but once they stabilise, it will be good for the group in the long-term. Singapore market too small la, if just rely on the income here can die.

Bought 20,000 Shares of SingPost @ $1.49

Seems like a good price so I bought, wonder why the share price so low now.

Sold 10,000 Shares of ComfortDelGro @ $2.50

Made a small profit of about $183, not bad, today take MC stay at home also can make money lol. Today STI looks very weird, see the index it is up by more than 10 points, but most blue chips in my watch list are red, who knows tomorrow STI tank. By the way if sell using DBS Vickers Cash Upfront within T+3, the money will show up immediately under Buying Power, which means right after you sell you can start to buy no need to wait next day.

Bought 10,000 Shares of ComfortDelGro @ $2.47

Today the share price suddenly tanked, don't know why but seems like a good opportunity so I bought some. I'm their supporter because I only book Comfort taxi, with a dedicated customer like me, how can the share price drop lol, if tomorrow go up I sell for some shopping money.

DBS Vickers Cash Upfront Account - Buy and Sell Within T+3

On 27 Dec 2016 I bought 10,000 shares of StarHub, and then sold on 28 Dec 2016, on 29 Dec 2016 morning I got the money back in my account and I can trade again. Good thing is if sell within T+3, still can get the 0.18% discount instead of the usual 0.28%.

Sold 10,000 Shares of StarHub @ $2.82

Yesterday bought at $2.72, today sold at $2.82, made a small profit of $268 after charges, not bad. But the money haven't come back yet, seems like even if sell within T+3 also have to wait, tomorrow see whether money credit back to me.

Bought 10,000 Shares of StarHub @ $2.78

Don't understand why the price so low lol, seems like a good chance to buy in with the high yield. I think people scared when new telco come in existing telcos will lose a lot of their market share, but I think won't make much difference, with increasing population the incoming telco is actually helping to share the load, I don't really see it as a problem.

Sold All Stocks

Yesterday sold all my stocks, only two and both are REITs, got tired of holding REITs, nowadays REITs seems to be doing worse in terms of both share price and dividend, both on downtrend, if hold long-term I think not a good idea, unless keep averaging but it's still pointless if the share price doesn't go up, it's like trying to fill up a bottomless pit. So I decided to bite the bullet and sell at a total loss of $1366.61, but all-time earning still got $1,331.41, so still alright la, but looking back, that means ever since I started investing in Nov 2012, until now only earn $1,331.41, kind of miserable, but still better than putting in fixed deposit or worse, keep in savings account. I can only say low risk, low gain. Now cash have about $35K, of which $30K is spare cash, the other $5K for expenses and baby operation costs next month. After that wait and see, this time I going for blue chips, people say cash is king, this is very true, right now I'm in a positi...

STI Bullish?

These two weeks STI risen quite a lot, about 200 points, my stocks also almost recover from losses, now just a little bit to break-even, but don't know whether this will last, STI siao siao, other markets up it only up a little, other markets down, it down a lot lol. But put money in stocks still better than putting in bank la, bank interest rate so miserable, fixed deposit only a little bit better.

SGX Temporarily Cease Trading

Source No wonder today all my stocks stopped moving, I thought what happened lol, seems like they kena some bug, as with all systems sure have bug, no system is 100% no problem. Reminds me of one idiotic customer at my workplace, if he is not my customer I sure F him upside down. During user meeting small issue he like to talk until like big problem, and then he just keep on going and going and waste everyone's time just to listen to his logic, then always end up talk whole day concluded with simple changes, simple changes need to talk whole day, who run business like that sure lose money and close shop, this type can only survive in government job. Then when system have bug, he said something retarded like have problem means have problem, along the lines of even if there is 1 failure out of 1000 runs, still mean fail, wtf right, 1 is only like 0.1% of 1000, one fail all fail, what kind of rubbish logic is that, if people who work in production line think like him, one defe...
