SG Arrival Card (SGAC)

Wife and daughter came home yesterday, everything was smooth until the Changi Airport clearance where the ICA counter asked for this SGAC, have to submit before they will let you through. Submission is easy, it's just a declaration, need to submit for each traveler so I submitted for my wife and daughter, all in less than 5 minutes, after that they try again and managed to get through. So before you reach Changi Airport, submit first to save the trouble later. https://www.ica.gov.sg/enter-transit-depart/entering-singapore/sg-arrival-card Anyway wife and daughter landed at T4, there really nothing much, looks like a clone of T3, hardly any shops outside, and many of the shops are closed, lucky still have a Cheers.

Wife's Flight Rescheduled

https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2022/10/bought-air-tickets-for-wife-and-baby.html Her Bangkok to Udon Thani's flight got rescheduled, so instead of waiting 3 hours 35 minutes at Don Mueang, now she only need to wait 2 hours and 25 minutes, not too rush and not too drag. Now thinking about it, good thing I booked the whole trip via one site, I suppose any change will be managed by the operator i.e. AirAsia, imagine I go book separately and book too close, timing bring forward then probably rush like mad and may even miss the second flight.

Bought Air Tickets for Wife and Baby

Image
Last Sunday bought the air tickets at AirAsia website for a total of S$429.10, didn't buy for myself because wife wanted to go for a month, I cannot go for so long, don't have the leave anyway since I rejoined the company in Jul, by the time I get my leave after 3 months it will be pro-rated, at most I will have 5-6 days I guess. By the way first 3 months I cannot take any leave. I think there's a 1% surcharge for buying the tickets, I paid by credit card and checked my statement today, the final amount is S$433.39, weird thing it's not reflected in the invoice, I also don't remember seeing any note about a surcharge, no idea what the 1% is for but then it's not a big deal. Wife and baby will fly to Don Mueang via Thai Lion Air, wait about 3 hours 35 minutes then fly to Udon Thani via Thai AirAsia, in case you are wondering, it's all in one single booking via AirAsia all for S$433.39, these days so convenient. The check-in luggage price also increase, I don...

Cannabis Legal in Thailand

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/thailand-travel-weed-legal-cannabis-cnb-singapore-shanmugam-2915951 Long time never post, but when I see this news, wah seh what the heck, Thailand not just open up they even legalise Cannabis. Cannabis also known as Marijuana, long long ago more than 20 over years ago my friend let me try a bit, can't remember the feeling but I remember it makes people happy or smile a lot, no idea how they even smuggle into Singapore. "If there is clear evidence of current use of drugs, Singapore authorities will take action, regardless of whether the consumption was in Singapore or overseas , the minister said in a Facebook post earlier on Thursday about national swimmers Joseph Schooling and Amanda Lim." Maybe if I was younger, I would probably travel there to smoke lol, but now, nah, now that I think of it, in my wife's hometown, they put Cannabis in chicken soup and eat as if it is vegetable. All the getting high aside, I think Cannabis ...

Collected Daughter's Passport

Appointment was at 12pm, went about 20 minutes early and got a queue number starting with D. Thought go early can get early end up not the case, but surprisingly it didn't take too long, settled the whole affair at around 12:15pm, was kind of worried if we have to wait a few hours haha. I saw on the queue number screen what each starting alphabet means: C = arrived within 15 minutes, have priority D = arrived early or late, no priority F = no appointment, wait up to 2 hours I also noticed there were queue numbers starting with FD, not sure if it is the same as F. For C, my understanding is if appointment is 12pm, and you arrive between 12pm to 12:15pm, you get priority. Kind of weird though. Anyway the passport collection area at level 2 was packed, many people collecting passport. They also put up barriers at level 1 entrance, only people collecting passport may enter, need to show the sms reminder for the appointment, but they allow me, my wife and daughter to go in even though o...

Baby Passport Ready for Collection, But...

I just checked and daughter's passport is ready for collection from 02 Jun, told wife and daughter and they so happy. Following is the actual message: "We are pleased to inform you that the passport can be collected within one month from 02/06/2022." So in order to collect the passport, need to book an appointment, when I went into the appointment module, the earliest date is 14 Jun lol faint, happy for nothing. Sigh, see how, the air tickets from 15 Jun to 20+ Jun freaking overpriced, maybe not go.

Still No News on Passport

https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2022/05/6-8-weeks-waiting-time-for-passport.html Today marks the end of 6 weeks from 15 Apr since I submitted passport renewal for daughter, still no news. I guess have to wait another two weeks see how, by then will be 10 Jun. Daughter's school starts on 27 Jun, if by 10 Jun cannot get passport, I think can forget the trip. Spoke to wife, if Jun cannot go, then we go during Dec holiday. Anyway 10 Jun just nice, it's almost two months since I left my job, I guess rest and play enough already, time to find work.

6-8 Weeks Waiting Time for Passport

Image
https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2022/04/submitted-passport-renewal-for-daughter.html I submitted renewal for daughter on 15 Apr, that time say need at least 1 month, until now still no update, so I google and found that now they change to 6-8 weeks, wow, if worst case 8 weeks that means have to wait until 10th of June, I guess ICA must be really overwhelmed right now. Also found this link, seems like there is a massive surge in passport applications, 8 weeks also don't know enough or not. https://www.ica.gov.sg/news-and-publications/newsroom/media-release/response-to-media-queries-on-passport-applications-and-queue-management-at-ica-building

Traveling to Thailand

There is an upcoming school holiday in Jun and wife is thinking of going home. I am checking what are the things to watch out for, most likely I'm not going so only wife and daughter going. The traveling rules seems to have relaxed a lot but there are still things to look out for. These are links I found which seem to be helpful. But very first thing is, renew passport haha, daughter's passport expired, wife's left 1 year, I think might as well renew both. Going to Thailand https://www.tatnews.org/2022/03/thailand-reopening-exemption-from-quarantine-test-go Returning from Thailand https://safetravel.ica.gov.sg/arriving/overview

Back from Bangkok Part 3 of 3

Image
Last hotel of the trip, Novotel Bangkok On Siam Square. Of the 3 hotels that we stayed, this is the most expensive. Price: 2 nights including all taxes was S$312.92, that's S$156.46 per night. For the price I think the Holiday Inn Bangkok Silom was way better overall and way cheaper. I guess Novotel is more expensive due to the really great location, it's all walking distance to the major malls and shopping areas, can even walk to MBK or the Erawan Shrine. Photos below. Not a great way to start the experience, see that black ant haha. For the pricing, they actually only provided a queen-sized bed, how disappointing, furthermore I booked a non-smoking room and they only had a smoking room with double bed; the one available non-smoking room had twin beds. Even though I'm a smoker, I find the room a bit smokey, wife was complaining but well not much of a choice. More expensive doesn't mean good. Overall the interior feels dated compared to Holiday Inn...

Back from Bangkok Part 2 of 3

Image
So next two nights we stayed at Holiday Inn Bangkok Silom, I think it is the best out of the 3 that we stayed during this trip, just the lobby was really impressive. Price: S$197.05 for two nights all taxes included, S$98.525 per night. Photos below. Managed to get this roasted pork belly rice at 7/11, only 3 boxes so must go in early morning. Just look at the lobby, so nice and comfy, worlds apart compared to that Grand China Hotel. Nice view of the city. King-sized bed, really comfortable, makes me want to buy one, I think when I get my BTO I am going to get a king-sized bed. Even have a work area, they have LAN cable too. By the way the power sockets are international sockets so no need for those stupid converters. Their own tuk tuk haha. Ate these at MBK, pretty good, I'm glad they brought their street food standard to the food court because I thought all that good taste will be gone but good thing it didn't happen. Com...
