DBS Anti-Scam Team

My wife asked me to help transfer some money to MIL for payment of insurance, about S$1000. Today I tried to send, I thought it went through but somehow the amount is not deducted from my account, usually it does so I thought maybe weekend so they will deduct on next working day. Then not even 5 minutes, got a guy from DBS Anti-Scam team called me and asked about the transfer, the purpose of it and asked me if I'm sure the account is correct, told him I sending on behalf of my wife to MIL and not the first time I sent to this account, he then verified some of my personal particulars, finally he say they will proceed to process. Damn I'm impressed, nowadays DBS so on one, I think this is a good thing, I don't mind that they call me up to do a check, it's not as if I send money overseas all the time anyway. Good job DBS.

Outright Google Ad Scam on YouTube

Image
The ad is targeting people in Singapore, according to the ad, Elon Musk says that each resident will be able to earn 7600 a day lol, wah like that everybody no need to work already hahaha, confirm all the gong kias rushing to sign up and kena scam. Amazing how the great Google allows such a blatant scam, aiyah but who cares, their job is to make money, people die not their problem, this Google become more and more fucked up, I hope web3 comes soon and replace Google, can't wait to see the day Google share price crash to $0, they have totally lost direction and no longer bring value to humanity, even their AI sucks. If you click the link on the ad, it will go here: https://thaters.autos This site so groundbreaking and classified they can't even be found on similarweb! So top secret the domain name registrant don't even want to show name and register under somewhere in bird shit location in Iceland! Lol! All these checks didn't even take me 5 mins and I did it all manuall

Be Careful with Links

https://www.asiaone.com/singapore/woman-lists-louis-vuitton-bag-sale-carousell-ends-losing-10000-scammer-fake-buyer The victim wanted to sell her $3,400 bag on Carousell, ended up kena tricked in to parting $9,900, but lucky for her the bank reimbursed her, that's really surprising because I always thought banks would just let people eat the loss and learn a painful lesson. The scammer tricked her into giving her email: "He said that he wanted to buy for his mother," Lu said. "So he asked if I could email him photos of the bag ." Then the scammer sent her a fake Carousell link and tricked her into entering her banking details, I suppose that would mean her internet banking id, password and OTP since the scammer managed to transfer the money abroad, very odd also, I thought the only thing the victim needed to share would be either her bank account number, or handphone number for PayNow. I think there needs to be even more education on what information is safe to

So Many Scams Nowadays

Image
These days scams come from all platforms, email, whatsapp, telegram, reddit, everywhere, I think telegram is easily the one with most scams, but that's a good thing, since it is such a scammy app, my defense is always up 100% of the time, and the only reason why I still keep it is because at work whenever system down, there is an alert sent to our telegram group, so no choice. Then recently there's this really frequent one, whatsapp, they will send via a business account, ask you to do some survey or some stupid shit, then they will pay you SGD 15, I always respond with curses, report and block. And this email, look at this moron, FBI agent want to transfer money to me hahaha, these people really jiak liao bee, I get this kind of email everyday. Also got ICA call me, press 1 for english, I press already china guy answer speak in mandarin hahaha wtf, ICA so desperate outsource call center to china? Then the call center so no standard press 1 for english become mandarin? Hahaha j

Scam Attempts Getting More Rampant

Saw two new type of scams, one is DBS Paylah via SMS, saying a transaction didn't go through and there is a link to click. Another is Whatsapp business account, getting a lot these few days, today one lagi best, even know my surname, must be data leaked from one of the online services I use but no idea which one, I usually just F them upside down, report and block. All these scammers should just die, useless trash with zero contribution to society. Then last few weeks keeping getting calls from "ICA", I tried to listen through, ask me to press 1 for English, I pressed 1 then one tiong kok kia answer and speak in Mandarin, lin lao bu ah, ICA outsource to China? I press 1 for English you speak Mandarin? You kan nin whole family die. That's what I wanted to say but not convenient cause got people around, if not I will F him upside down. Anyway everyone stay safe from virus and scams, do not respond to any SMS or Whatsapp or Telegram or whatever social media, do not pick

YouTube Loaded with Scammers and Fake Gurus

Image
Recently I find that YouTube ads are getting longer and more frequent, the most bloody annoying ones are those that slide in a scam video or some fake gurus desperately trying to CONvince people to buy their useless course. I guess if people can't take it they can sign up for YouTube Premium, but I'm not going to pay a single cent, there's no added value, it just gets rid of the ads, at most I just spam F5 until the ads go away. I think Google is desperate for money, totally lost their direction and turned into a money-grabbing machine. When they lost the AI war, I really laughed out loud, these A-holes deserved it. I think they lost creativity, won't be surprised if they collapse within the next 5 years. See these two stupid asses from "Next Level Academy", if their course so tok gong, they no need to be so desperate and keep spamming ads on YouTube to CONvince people. Good things no need to try so desperately to sell, it will sell itself, only useless shitty

Scam Alert, Trust No One

Image
https://saltandlight.sg/news/singapore-nurse-who-was-cheated-of-240000-in-love-crypto-scam I think I read this story before, it was posted in Asiaone or somewhere and this serves as a stark reminder that scammers are always out hunting for victims, far too many have fallen victim to scams. People have to realise that social media and messaging platforms are full of scammers, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Twitter, Discord, Telegram, Whatsapp and etc, these are not the kind of place to make new friends because it is too easy to create a fake profile, just look at Twitter, tons and tons of fake profiles. If you are not sure, ask someone you trust, like your family or your best friend, heck you can even ask me. For me very simple, whenever I receive unsolicited message, I treat it as scam, I report and block, end of story. If someone come knock on my door claiming to be from HDB or whatsoever, as long as the agency didn't send me any notification beforehand, I won't entertain. Speak

"China Officials" Scam

https://tnp.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/china-officials-impersonation-scam-ex-businesswoman-75-loses-1m-cpf-money These days scammers are everywhere! From SMS, calls, email and social media, so much money lost to scammers, damn lucrative, no wonder so many scams in so many different forms. I'm not sure how this elderly lady got persuaded into handing over her money just like that, and she can't remember it, damn bastards scamming forgetful elderly lady, really dog eat dog world, every man for himself. I never entertain any of these nonsense, the very first mistake one can make is to respond, simply don't respond will do. China officials some more, even if they really want to come after you, they will go through official channel, don't watch too much drama or movie and get confused with reality. This elderly lady is 75, uses a wheelchair, has trouble remembering things, didn't tell family because she wants to protect them, come on, she is more vulnerable than her

Spent Whole Morning Housekeeping

https://www.theblockcrypto.com/post/142304/metamask-advises-users-to-disable-automatic-icloud-backups-of-its-wallet-data-to-prevent-hacks After reading the news where this poor guy lost several high value NFTs and $APE coins, I decided to do some digital housekeeping and terminate all the loose ends. My Gmail account is the single most important gateway to everything, so I ran through the checks provided by Google and deleted one alternate email which I don't use anymore, also signed out of all the devices. I also created a Gmail account for wife so she can use her own, my daughter has her own Gmail account but was using mine because I created hers as a kids account so there are some limitations, changed hers to use my wife's instead. By the way my wife is using her own iPhone while my daughter has an iPad. But then for this case, I don't think MetaMask nor Apple is at fault, the poor guy got tricked into giving his iPhone's 2FA code to the scammer, once you let bad guy

Free $ETH Just to Retweet and Follow?

Image
Today I see so many of such tweets, crypto giveaway to gain followers, $20,000 wow, there's one I saw $30,000. But I guess this trick is old trick, didn't get this guy much followers. Will he really give? Of course not, there's no proof of this person sending anything at all.

Scamshield App Doesn't Work as Expected

https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2021/11/getting-so-many-scam-call-and-sms.html After installing and setting up for myself and my wife, we are still getting scam calls, whatsapp and sms, I think there really is no way to 100% block all these nonsense. Most rampant is the MOH calls, the number is different every time, I wonder if the app will eventually block some genuine numbers.

Getting So Many Scam Call and SMS

The scammers really trying very hard, I think because it is lucrative, all they need is get a dumbass who responds, don't be surprised though, there are still many dumb people hence they supply the market, supply and demand, if there are dumbasses, then there will be scammers. So many pattern, from quick loan to betting to job offer, even impersonating MOH, MOM and SPF. Today got really fed up and downloaded the Scamshield app for myself and my wife, she also getting lots of all these nonsense calls and SMS, I told her as long as it's an unknown number or some moron claiming to be from MOH, just ignore. But then even if there are dumbasses, doesn't mean it should be easy to execute a scam, the problem is where ever these scammers are operating from, that country is corrupted and does not enforce strict regulation on their telco and ISP providers, that's why it is so easy for these scammers to make these scam calls and SMS. Which country? India, China, but they are prob

Fake KFC Website Lol

Image
Fake KFC website:  https://kentykyasiachicken.com So easy to copy the user interface, so easy to create a free SSL cert, it's using Let's Encrypt which is free. This is the real site:  https://www.kfc.com.sg Be careful haha.

Crab Scam?

https://www.asiaone.com/singapore/2-crabs-990-man-loses-over-18000-after-falling-scam https://www.8crabs.com/shop A really strange case of a scam, this 8 Crabs actually have an online booking site, and then this guy decided to jump at a $9.90 deal from an ad from either Facebook or Instagram, and then ended up paying $18,579 and didn't get any crab. I think the lesson here is don't buy anything through ads, just buy directly from the merchant's website. And $9.90 for crabs is just ridiculous, if it's too good to be true, it usually is.

Impersonation of Chinese Officials or Banks

https://www.tnp.sg/news/singapore/31-people-being-investigated-over-impersonation-scams What really caught my eye are the amounts lost, does it mean that there is one victim who transferred a whooping amount of $824,500 to a scammer? "The amounts transferred or handed over ranged from $5,000 to $824,500 . At least $6,920,000 was lost in total." I just can't understand why people can be so gullible, impersonation scam is probably like one of the lamest scam, I mean it's just so easy to see through and ignore, and yet there are still people getting scammed and the amounts are not small. Just remember this, if in doubt, do nothing , if worried, ask for another opinion because yours don't count anymore, talk to someone you know, a family member, a close friend, a trusted co-worker, ask one not sure, ask all of them, don't just panic and allow a stranger to lead you by the nose. You will be surprised that sometimes all you need to do is nothing.

Torque Crypto Scam?

https://www.techtimes.com/articles/258767/20210405/singaporean-torque-traders-drop-life-savings-crypto-employee-creates-unathorized.htm Put life savings into the platform and then the money just suddenly disappeared, wow, shocking, how come the employee can suka suka make trades and then magically disappeared too? Super fishy sia. Anyway their website have that Sunshine Empire feel to it, check it out here:  https://torque.asia Jia lat, so much money might as well just put in CPF better.

No Wonder Scammers are Trying so Hard...

https://www.tnp.sg/news/singapore/man-loses-over-50000-investment-scam Because there are really dumb people out there who will foolishly just give away their hard-earned money just because a "friend" they know on Facebook tell them to. " Mr Lin (not his real name) was not familiar with investments. But last December, a woman he had befriended on Facebook encouraged him to open a trading account and introduced him to a broker. He trusted her and since Jan 1, on two occasions, he invested much of his life savings into the account. " I think other than dumb people, the other reason is similar to making cold calls, try hard like really hard, because all they need is one gong kia in every 100 calls, they will be rich already. Anyway these days I see a lot of ads on YouTube that says you can start a business with less than $100, or they show you their profit, if you look closer they are actually trying to sell you a course, I mean come on, if whatever that they are trying

This Abraham Rock Very Daring and Clever

Source He made a S$3.77 million claim which includes CPF and a few insurance companies, by claiming his lao bu is dead, but only managed to get S$129,300 because some of the insurance companies found discrepancies in his claim which led to the discovery of the fraud. I think the difficult part is the lao bu supposedly died overseas, so it is difficult to know for sure so can only rely on the documents this guy submitted. ICA and CPF is government body, don't care about anything just see paper black and white, paper say die means die, no need to verify. It is hard to believe this is the only case, especially for these foreigners covert to Singaporeans/PR, how many lao bu or lao peh or wife or husband, daughter son uncle auntie, cousin or whatever died overseas, haha I think if now really go verify, for all you know these "deceased" people still well and alive and enjoying the Singapore currency that they easily illegally obtained, I mean all you need is just fake doc

Qoo10: What You See is Not What You Get?

Image
Today while reading Asiaone.com, I chanced upon a Qoo10 link that says "USS One Day Pass: $48 only on Qoo10", this same ticket would cost $74 if you purchase it at their official site, so wow, $26 cheaper, why not buy it right? But as I clicked the link, it brought me to a page where I have to select an option at the bottom before I can proceed, so I choose Adult, end up have to add another $16 before I can buy it, final price is $64 instead of the advertised $48! Since adult price is $64, why not just advertise as $64? Shows $48 here End up $64

Beggars in Singapore

Nowadays begging seems like a very popular profession, people are quickly joining this seemingly lucrative profession, but I doubt it is easy money, most locals are really not as dumb as most people presume, we are also aware that even foreigners come here to beg because they think it is easy money but in reality it's not, I can bet most probably return home not being able to cover their cost to fly and stay here. I think maybe only the younger population will be easier targets for the beggars as they are fresh in the workforce, some of them probably haven't seen how harsh reality can be, how people can lie or even act just to get some money, or maybe the rare plain kindhearted person who will give, usually people like me won't even give a single cent, not to mention paying for some overpriced tissue, these tissue vendors are just beggars in disguise, why in the world would anyone in their right mind pay $1 for 3 packets of tissue. Personally I feel that it's not ri
