Getting Hazy Again

Today the haze seems to be the worse so far for this week, the burnt smell is stronger, I wonder where is burning, most likely our best neighbours are burning their forest again. Every year is the same, the same thing keep happening, not very good for health, everybody gets sick, now I'm a bit sick sigh.

High-rise Littering

Sometimes at the kitchen I heard something dropped and I looked outside, saw a plastic bag, think it is leftover food because it will usually attract pigeons to feed. Pigeons also another problem, seems like the population getting really well-fed thanks to all these high-rise littering. Other than food, I also noticed cigarette butts, tissues and all sorts of other types of rubbish, seems like these people don't have a bin in their home, whatever rubbish they just throw out of their window. I hope these people die soon, this kind of scumbags don't deserve to live.

Somebody Told Me No Smoking Within 5 Metres of Bus Stop

Na beh after work want to relax enjoy a smoke also difficult, was smoking near the bus stop, this guy told me no smoking within 5 metres of bus stop, I count from the shelter is definitely more than 5 metres, then he pointed to the bus stop pole just in front of me, kan nin na, like that also can, I also not sure actually count from where, just keep quiet and moved elsewhere to smoke as I don't want to argue. I thinking all this kind of no smoking rules really retarded, if really don't want people to smoke, why not just ban sales of tobacco, problem solved? No, government on one hand want to earn big bucks, the other hand want to come up with this kind of stupid rules to entertain the non-smokers. One pack you imagine they tax how much, cost price say $3 per pack, they tax probably $9, they earn $9 per pack, where to find such good deal. If they ban, I don't smoke, simple. And the non-smokers some also one kind, they think the smoke from tobacco is bad, imagine they s

NEA Called Me

Previously I mentioned about the solar powered CCTV behind my block, I thought it was installed by NEA, but today one of their officers called me regarding the case that I lodged, asked him and he said not that he know of, he also mentioned theirs is like the LTA type, don't know what LTA CCTV looks like though. I told him the littering happens every few days, but as I'm not home in the day so I don't really know which unit did it. My wife also don't actively check the window to try to catch the culprit, kind of no point if it is two units away, can't see also. The officer mentioned that they will conduct house visits to the units above me, eventually they will install the CCTV. He said actually they did conduct house visits earlier but the owners never open the door. I think if this time still cannot reach the owners they will probably go ahead and install the CCTV.

Turn On the TV Nothing But Bad News

The Zika virus is here, don't know who or what brought it here, now pregnant women have to be careful, the virus can cause birth defect, see those babies with small head. For adults and children I think should be nothing serious. Then the haze, what on earth is Indonesia doing, so many years and they are still burning, never improve, but at least this time their VP or ministers never come out and gong lan jiao wei, or maybe they have but never report in news. Deep down really wish somebody will nuke that country and remove them from the face of this planet. Or at least should tie these two fuckers in the middle of their hotspots, then they will know the ba wu, while in the comfort of their office in Jakarta, I doubt they can understand how it feels like to smell the smoke.

Suddenly a Thick Haze this Evening!

Just now when I looked out of my window, there is a thick haze, I can even smell the burning in my kitchen, how come today suddenly so bad, even with our help, the haze seems to be burning ever stronger. Wonder how bad it will get, this is really no good for health, for adults I think still not so bad but for children I think it's very bad because they are still growing, might damage their growth or something. I hope the authorities can do more to solve this haze problem, this is getting very annoying.

Indonesia (Finally) Accepted Our Help

They finally accepted our offer after they realized they cannot contain the fire, they also asked Malaysia, Russia and Japan for help, but even if we put out the fires now, it does not solve the problem completely, the real cause of the problem is slash and burn. Indonesia must name out all culprits, especially when they say Singaporean companies are involved, give us the names first, I really want to know which of our companies are responsible and make sure to boycott their products completely, I hope our government will punish them until they bankrupt, also punish their owners, jail them, fine them, bankrupt them, shame them, they must have known but let the burning happen anyway. So far these 5 Indonesia companies have been identified: PT Rimba Hutani Mas PT Sebangun Bumi Andalas Wood Industries PT Bumi Sriwijaya Sentosa PT Wachyuni Mandira PT Bumi Mekar Hijau And one more, this one have a company in Singapore: Asia Pulp and Paper Company NTUC and Sheng Siong have

Public Holiday Stay Home Thanks to Indonesia

Today the PSI reading at 12PM is 173-216 overall in Singapore, and today is a public holiday, I guess everybody will be staying home, actually wanted to bring wife and baby out to enjoy the day but looking at the haze can forget it, so I went to Sheng Siong to buy groceries and cook instead. So on my way to SS, so little people outside, usually on a public holiday it will be very crowded almost anywhere, today so quiet but SS is packed, everybody go in to enjoy the aircon, I saw so many aunties never buy anything just go inside walk and stand around chatting, and some people never buy anything or buy much just push the shopping trolley around. Anyway this Indonesia really cannot make it, their leadership is completely hopeless, it's been decades since the haze started and they still can't solve the haze problem, how long more do they need? This is what happens when you put useless people in charge, no matter how much authority they have, or how much resources they have, the

Haze is Back Again (Again!)

I saw the news just now, the haze is coming from hot spots in Indonesia, the PSI is around 100, that means unhealthy level, and just now while making my way home, I can see that the sky is getting foggy, and today two of my co-workers took sick leave. I also feel a bit unwell, feel so tired, not sure if it's because I slept late these two days or because of the haze. I hope it gets better or else I can't go for my Saturday run, I have been running without fail for a long time now and I don't wish to be interrupted. I still don't understand why the Indonesian forest keep catching fire, I wonder what their government will say about it, probably tell us not to overreact while they stay out of the haze far away in their capital.

Haze is Back

Noticed that the haze today is thicker than last few days, don't tell me Indonesia is burning things again, but who else could it be, after telling them for years, for decades, they still continue with the burning, sigh, do they really have no other way to do whatever they need to do without burning? Ok, I think I could be wrong, after googling a bit, I found this article , seems like the burning occurred due to the recent dry weather, that is true, our grass patches have turned brown, all dried up, I can't remember when was the last time we had rain, if our place is dry, I think it could be worse in the forests of  Indonesia and Malaysia. But I think the best solution is for Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore to form a forest fire fighting council, each country should take turn to lead the council for a certain period, and each country should commit a reasonable amount of resources for the mission, currently what I can see is the forests of those two big countries are reall

Burnt Smell in the Air Today

Today when I stepped off the train after work, first smell that came to my nose was a burnt smell, barbeque smell, reminds me of last year when the haze was the worst ever, did Indonesia start burning things again? I think it could also be due to the recent dry spell, it hasn't been raining for quite a while the weather is hot and dry, even the grass patches at my work place are all dead, green patch become light brown. Speaking of barbeque, a few of my colleagues fell ill, I think they ate too much Bak Kwa and did not drink enough water, that's why I try to avoid Bak Kwa, expensive and bad for health, like paying money to make yourself ill, 1KG can sell $50, I was thinking which idiot will buy but during Chinese New Year everyone doesn't seem to mind paying for it, people don't even mind queuing hours for it, actually why not eat after Chinese New Year, it's now selling for $40 per KG, still expensive though, $40 for one KG of meat, might as well go order a few

This December is a Month of Sudden Rains and Cold Nights

I noticed that the rain nowadays comes so suddenly, last week me and my wife walked into the lift at our housing estate, the sky was clear with sunshine, and it was barely one minute after we reached our level, then it started to rain heavily. Today we went for lunch, the sky looks clear, a bit dark but I didn't think it was going to rain because it rained last night, when we finished our lunch, it suddenly rained heavily, luckily we dined near where we live because we didn't bring an umbrella. And the weather is getting colder, I haven't had a flu for a long time but yesterday it got me, but I think I'm recovering very fast, the flu is mostly gone now, I think because I work out quite often, good to have a strong body to withstand this kind of unpredictable weather. The water that comes out of our tap is also cold, especially during shower, the water is chilling.

I'm FINished WITH FINS Campaign

SHARK SAVERS Singapore I have tried shark's fin soup before, it was tasty, but I know actually it's the broth that's tasty, the fin itself is tasteless, smells fishy, it's like jelly without sugar, I think a chicken soup would taste much better. I'm okay with people fishing and cooking but the way they waste a shark is terrible, they cut off their fins and then toss them back into the ocean, leaving them to die in the wild. I think we should put a stop to this, people should stop fishing sharks just for their fins, it's like killing rhinos just for their horns, elephants just for their tusks, so if they are not going to make full use of the animal, they should leave them alone. The last time I ate shark's fin was at my best friend's wedding dinner a few months back, I think I will never purchase shark's fin, actually I never purchase shark's fin, I only ate it during wedding dinner, which is a once in a blue moon thing, and only during Chines

Indonesia Says Singapore Behaving Like a Child Over Haze

Image
I woke up this morning and it's back, checked the PSI reading and it's 292. Yesterday night was ok, back to the 100 mark, wonder what happened this morning while I was asleep. I checked the news and saw this article heading that can seriously piss off any Singaporean. Source Indonesia says S'pore 'behaving like a child' over haze "Singapore should not be behaving like a child and making all this noise," Agung Laksono, the minister who is coordinating Indonesia's response to the haze crisis, told reporters in Jakarta. "This is not what the Indonesian nation wants, it is because of nature." The minister for people's welfare also said Jakarta would reject any offer of financial aid from Singapore unless it was a large amount. "Unless (Singapore) wants to give us a large amount, we won't consider accepting it," he said. "If it is only half a million, or one million dollars, we don't need that. We would rather

Too Hazy, No Mood to Post...

Sigh, when will it ever end... at first it's still kind of interesting, we haven't got any big thing going on for a while so the record-breaking haze was really quite fresh, but it gets really irritating fast, my eyes feel so dry, I had to try to breathe as little as possible, maybe a mask would help but still it hurts my eyes. At least rain a bit...

Singapore Urged Indonesia to Provide Company Names That Allow Slash-And-Burn Farming

Yesterday I read on a blog or Facebook post, can't remember where but it was saying that Indonesia was blaming Singapore and Malaysia for the haze, they were saying that it was companies from both countries which started the fires due to slash-and-burn practice in farming. The following news seems to prove what I read was right because I thought it was ridiculous to blame other countries for fires in their own country, I thought it was just another troll post because it sounds so stupid. Source Singapore's worst air pollution sparks tension Updated  2013-06-19 16:53:36 Singapore's worst air pollution in 16 years sparked diplomatic tension on Tuesday, as the city-state urged Indonesia to provide data on company names and concession maps to enable it to act against plantation firms that allow slash-and-burn farming. Don't you think it's stupid? Even if it was companies from other countries which started the fires, they are still within Indonesia's legis

The Haze Seems to Have Weakened

But when is it going to go away completely? The reading tonight looks okay, but seems to be increasing, and that irritating smell is still lingering everywhere, I had to hold my breath several times when I was walking home just now. Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) Reading Hits the Roof!

This morning when I went to work, I noticed that the haze seems slightly thicker than previous weeks and during lunch time, it got so much thicker. The worst part is when I left my office at around 6.15pm, I felt like I was in the movie "The Mist", the burnt smell in the air is unbearable, there's simply no where to hide. When I reached home, I checked the PSI Reading and the result was quite shocking.
