CDL Hospitality Trusts Changed Management Company

Image
Today I tried to search for CDL Hospitality Trusts at SGX website but I could not find, after that I went to their website  and saw this announcement that they have strike off the company, if you look at the first link, the reit is now managed by a different company: "CDL Hospitality Real Estate Investment Trust is managed by M&C REIT Management Limited, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc." So if you go under Company Information > Company Announcements at SGX website, you can find CDL Hospitality Trusts under M&C: Apparently it's just a change of management company, didn't seem to affect the share price at all.

My Passive Income So Far

Currently I have two sources of passive income, one is from stock dividends, the other is from blogging, both are kind of slow, so ultimately like most people, the biggest source of my income is still from full-time employment, so that is why I always advocate to people to stay employed no matter how low the pay is or how bad the environment is, if you want to quit, ensure you have a job ready before you throw that letter, and low pay is surely better than no pay. And so unless I have a million dollar to buy stocks, or my blog have traffic like Xia Xue's, otherwise it is very difficult for these two sources to replace the income from my full-time job. Anyway, I guess it is time to look back and see how I have done so far in terms of passive income. Year Dividends Blogging (Adsense) Total Passive Income Received Mthly Received Mthly Received Mthly 2013 $613.00 $51.08 $0.00 $0.00 $613.00 $51.08 2014 $763.70 $63.64 $125.18 $10.43 $888.88 $74.07 2015 $835.68 $69.64 $334.

Yesterday and Today SGX Suddenly Chiong

Yesterday noticed that my losses suddenly become profit lol, today also chiong, wonder what happen, but that is normal, what goes down will go up eventually, same the other way round, but this is true only for good stocks, those lousy shit stocks go down may never come up again. Anyway happy investing!

POSB Everyday Card Annual Fee Waiver

Image
Today I checked my card statement and found that there is an extra charge of $128.4 which consists of the annual fee and GST: Annual Fee and GST So I called the POSB hotline 1800 339 6666, pressed through some numbers and entered my card number, after a while system informed me that my annual fee and GST has been waived and will be reflected in my next bill and takes 1 day to reflect in iBanking, very simple process.

Opened POSB Savings Account for Wife

I received the maternity claim from my employer so today I went to POSB with wife to open a savings account, just need her blue ID card and that's it. So I choose a normal ATM card for her, she also received an iBanking account so no need the passbook, can check everything online, so convenient. The ATM card and iBanking account can be used same day, no need to wait. So after opening the account, I taught her to use the ATM card, make sure to take card and then take money, sometimes people can forget to take the money.

Global Markets Tanking, Recession Coming?

Now my portfolio Mou Gan Tai (no eyes see) meaning don't want to see haha, $1300+ in the red, overall lost about $3700+, all previous earnings wiped out but it's all paper loss, now I wonder how low can it go. Today STI dived below 3000 points, last time it dived so low was in Feb 2014, I think something big coming, anyway better to tighten belt now and don't spend too much. I think now just leave it and collect dividends, the dividends also not bad, overall about 6.79% annualised yield, still better than leaving it in bank. Too bad now no more cash to buy, the stocks are so cheap, it's like the STI Great Singapore Sale, good chance to pick up some, especially those dividend stocks. Actually bigger concern is if recession really hits us, will companies be able to survive, I think Singapore is quite safe, even if we really get hit, our government can always step out to help, but those MNCs hard to say, if they cannot make it, they will just lay off staff or close

Today STI Dropped 2.9%

The stocks that I bought all in red, phew, most earnings wiped out, but at least not in loss, sigh, I think will hold on for another one or two years lol, but at least I don't need to use the money so can afford to hold, and actually hold on for dividend also not bad, the 3 companies that I bought all not bad, ST Engineering, CDL Hospitality Trust and Cambridge Industrial Trust, I think long-term they can be very profitable but today good chance to buy in, so many stocks suddenly go down but no money to buy!

Made $247.06 Buying and Selling SGX

I bought 1 lot of SGX on 08 Jun at $7.95, sold it yesterday for $8.25 and made a small profit of $247.06. Yesterday suddenly surged to $8.26, so I quickly sold it during office hours lol, also good chance to free up some cash, I think stock market will adjust downwards more, the Greek crisis doesn't seem to have an end in sight, I wonder whether they will continue to stay in eurozone, see how, now better to have more cash.

Sold All My Stocks

Today I sold everything for a small profit of $600+, not bad, I think market is going down soon, I don't believe STI can go past 3500 and stay above, furthermore the US interest rate is going to rise anytime but nobody knows for sure when, better to sell first because I don't know how much STI will go downwards once they announce the news. Sounds like a great idea right, if STI go down, there will be cheap stocks, by then I will buy in, haha wishful thinking, see how it goes, every time I sell the market sure go up.

SIBOR Rate Rising, Time to Sell Stocks?

Recently news of SIBOR rate rising has been coming out quite often, even when I was busy I also know about it. Just last year it was 0.4%+, now it is 1%+, more than 50% increase. Some good reads here, I think the 3rd link really gives a good idea: http://www.moneysmart.sg/home-loan/sibor-trend http://www.abs.org.sg/rates_sibor.php http://business.asiaone.com/personal-finance/investments-and-savings/should-you-still-get-sibor-based-home-loan Our SIBOR is closely linked to the US interest rate, so I heard they are planning to increase again, I think just late last year or early this year they increased, so our SIBOR will most likely increase together, by then people here would be cash strapped so I guess they won't put so much money into stocks, I think better to sell everything soon, maybe next week I clear my stocks and hold on to cash first. I think those who really overstretched will be very much affected, if SIBOR goes up to 2%, their monthly payment would increase

Food Price Go Up Again

Today I ordered Pig's Stomach Soup, one bowl was $6 and the portion was not as much as I expected, with a bowl of rice total $6.50, wow, usually I think they selling for $4-5, how come can increase so much, even my friend's mixed veggie rice costed $0.50 more, same dishes, I wonder if the price surge will stay, sigh, every year is the same, vendors always take the chance to increase price, if only our income grows as much. $1 of say $5 is 20% increase, $0.50 of say $3 is about 16% increase, does our income increase as much per year? Of course not. Singapore getting more and more expensive, government is trying to slow down property price growth, but costs of healthcare and food is getting more and more expensive, furthermore these two are necessities, I think more focus should be put on slowing down price growth of necessities, vendors should not be allowed to increase price so much, actually hawker centre rental is not very expensive but how come they are still increasing pr

DBS Changed Their iBanking Interface

Just log in to iBanking and found that their interface changed so much, looks much more modern now. Should have done it long ago. Anyway when I try to logout, they invited me to join their Treasures program, deposit $350k to get $1388, that's about 0.39%, well I don't have that kind of money but even if I have, I definitely won't deposit in bank, even if they give 1% also not worth it.

Money Gone So Fast!

After paying slightly over $1k today for my wife's pregnancy expenses, I'm left with $482.39, wah seh, here the healthcare really not cheap, especially if have complication then even worse. Still have to pay for my wife's insurance back in Thailand, her mom bought it for her and my wife wants me to pay lol, anyway not big amount, about 10,000 baht which is slightly over $400, lucky one year only need to pay once. And still have to prepare money to bring her mom over, maybe I will need to sell off some stocks, sell my CDL Hospitality Trust, making profit now, can sell off if need be but I really don't want to sell, it's a good stock, can keep for dividends.

Bought 4 Lots of Cambridge Industrial Trust @ $0.675

Now I have 14 lots, too bad not enough cash and it's not everyday that they get to this low price, I'm sure tomorrow will start to rebound, now the yield is more than 7% which is very attractive, this is a good strong long-term stock to buy and keep.

Bought 2 Lots of CDL Hospitality Trust at $1.65

Just about 2 weeks ago it was at $1.795, today when I checked out the price I was quite shocked to see it at $1.65, lowest was $1.64, so I quickly went in and grabbed 2 lots, that's all the spare cash I have now haha. I like this counter very much because it has properties in different places, especially in Maldives, and the price fluctuates a lot which means this is a popular counter, anyway I'm now focusing on Cambridge Industrial and CDL Hospitality trusts, I realized that I don't have to buy too many counters, I just need to focus on a few good ones.

Credit Counselling Singapore (CCS) Can Help

Today I read about this story where a 33 year old man paid about $70,000 in interest to a licensed moneylender over two years based on a principal loan amount of $20,000 and every month he is paying $4000 which is 88% of his salary, so as you can see his salary is actually very high, but unfortunately he got himself into such a situation because he did not control his spending. Initially he only owed banks money via his credit cards but due to pressure from the banks to take him to court if he was unable to pay, and out of fear that he might lose his job if his financial situation was made known to his employer, he turned to licensed moneylender. That was a very bad move, and also because he was not aware that CCS can help him, so here I want everyone to know, CCS can help you if you are in debt, I also don't think it is limited to credit card debts only as what you might see in online forums, no harm checking it out, no matter what it is still better than approaching licensed m

Just Noticed SGX Clearing Fee is Cut

Source Well it's not going to make a huge difference but it's better than nothing, it's cut from 0.04% to 0.0325%, so for small time investor like me, every trade I can save a few cents, a few cents also money lol. 0.04% of $5000 is $2.00 0.0325% of $5000 is $1.625 I think the purpose is to encourage small time investors to trade more, I think it helps, see now SGX is going up, more people are pouring in their money but I wonder how long this rally will last, good things never last long.

Bought 10 Lots of Cambridge Industrial Trust at $0.735

A few minutes before closing I quickly went in to buy 10 lots, tomorrow is exclude dividend date which means any shares that I buy today will be eligible for their recently declared dividend of $0.01251 per share, to be paid on 10 Sep 2014. I have no idea why but after looking at their price today, which is down 1.342% from yesterday, I have a gut feel that the price will go up tomorrow, and I will sell it within this week for a quick buck, let's see.

Sold My 4 Lots of Sheng Siong at $0.70

Overall profit is $387.27, about 15.49% of the cost price, not bad. I sold because I don't think it can go any higher, anyway hard to say, every time I sell a stock, the price go up haha. Now I have some spare cash, not sure what to buy, everything seems so expensive, but I'm looking at F&N, if it can go below $3, I will wait and see, CIMB target price is $2.66 but I really don't think it's so worthless, their financials is good, and I think people scared to buy because they are worried that there is not much growth for F&N, but I like this company, I also like their products, see how, anyway I won't be buying anything anytime soon, just wait and see.

Accumulated Daily$ 57.29 with POSB Everyday Card

I have been using the card since Apr 2014 and so far accumulated $57.29, I think that's quite a lot of savings, I can offset my credit card bills with that. Most of my savings came from Sheng Siong purchases, they have 5% rebate if I use my card there, damn good deal, I can also get discount for cigarettes and liquor, not bad. Now I'm thinking of get a supplementary card for my wife since she also make purchases there, but I'm afraid she might not control her spending, a little bit worried haha, but I think it will be more convenient, if it's also an ATM then that means I don't have to give her cash, she can just withdraw by herself, hmmmm, got to think about it.
