Jubilee Baby Gift Both Singaporean Parents Then Eligible?

Source A Marie Dini Osmond said, "For Singaporean babies only and both parents must be Singaporean in order to be eligible for this. I really hope the government have this criteria in place." So if I have a baby next year and I'm not supposed to be eligible because my wife is a foreigner? Haha so sad, one freebie brings out the selfishness of this country's people, I'm sure she's not the only one who thinks like that, a lot of Singaporeans simply hate foreigners, even if spouse of Singaporeans also hate, it's just the way it is. Anyway I suggested 10 gold bars, they probably won't bother to consider my suggestion haha but seriously, if they don't give money then I hope they give something useful, please don't give some stupid worthless coin like in army, waste of taxpayers' money, at least give diapers, milk powder, baby clothes, Grace Fu say give one sarong with Singapore flag to wrap baby, at least that sounds useful, or easiest, g

Singapore at 40 Degrees Celsius?

Just now while in the taxi to customer's site, I noticed that the thermometer in the taxi shows 40 degrees, the weather is really hot these few days, sweating all the time, worst is in the morning when I walk to the train station, super hot and humid, sweating like a pig. By the way the walking distance to the train station is about 1KM+, I know it's quite far to walk but I'm used to it, have been walking for a few years already, mainly is to exercise, I also walk home after work!

79 Year Old Man Collecting Medicine

Just now when I was hiding in one corner smoking with a co-worker, an old man approached us, he seemed lost so I asked him where he was going, he said he wants to collect medicine, so I asked for his prescription to see if there was any address, then he said he was told to collect at SGH block 4, immediately I knew it was the retail pharmacy as I have been there several times during my wife's pregnancy last year. So I pointed him to the correct direction, and while doing that, I noticed that he had difficult walking, his pace was really slow and I was worried he might end up at the wrong place so I told him to wait for me to smoke finish and then I'll bring him there. So while walking we chatted a bit, I asked whether he came alone and he said yes, then I asked where his children were, he paused for a while and told me they were busy with their life or work, didn't hear clearly, and he sounded like a Teochew, I can tell because my grandmother is a Teochew, I also asked wh

Starhub Fibre Suddenly So Slow (Update)

Previous post. Today seems to have improved a lot, last weekend was terrible but still usable if I keep refreshing the page but it's really annoying. So yesterday morning the Starhub support replied to my email asking me some questions and telling me to attach the error screen with some technical information such as trace route and ip configuration, I did so when I reached home but found that the connection improved a bit, but I send them the information they require anyway. And today was so much better, I think they did something in the backend, I don't see anymore disconnection or unable to find server error, I hope it doesn't happen again.

LTVP+ Holders Not Allowed Babysit at Home to Earn Money

My wife is a housewife so she mostly stays at home to do the chores, I was thinking maybe she could earn some income by babysitting at home, I spoke with her regarding this and she doesn't seem to reject it so I decided to explore this possibility. The idea came to me when I visited the Singapore Babysitter Connect forum at mummysg.com and realized that there are plenty of residents here looking for babysitters, so I thought why not, but before I act on anything, I checked with MOM regarding the legality because I feel that it's quite a grey area as in there's no fixed employer, it's like a casual job, can't expect all the parents to apply letter of consent for her right. But to be sure, I dropped MOM an enquiry, today they got back to me, the lady on the line made it clear that LTVP+ is meant for my wife to stay here only, so that means if she wants to work or even babysit at home, she would need a letter of consent. I also confirmed that unless she is babysit

Blogging As Additional Source of Income

Today while having nothing much to do at work, I looked back on my blogging history and realized that I started this blog in Feb 2011 , slightly over 3 years ago. Then I looked at my Adsense monthly earnings, it was miserable, first 6 months was $0 because I hardly blog at that time, then following few months was a few cents, $1+, then a few cents, still pathetic but at least there is improvement, a few cents is still more than $0! Then I made a lot of posts last year, in fact I made 257 posts in the year 2013! Wow, I surprised even myself, and with the increased posts, I noticed that my monthly earnings increased as well, from a few cents to $2+, to $3+ and to $4+! That's a lot of improvement, I know it's still pathetic but hey, at least I don't see a few cents anymore! And in Jan 2014, I broke the $8 mark, and this month of March, I broke the $9 mark! I wasn't even thinking of breaking the $5 mark but look at me now, I crossed $9, I think if I keep blogging and br

Why Do Smokers Knock (or Pack) on a New Pack of Cigarettes?

I bet you have seen it so many times and you have no idea why they did it, as a smoker myself I can tell you there is no benefit to knocking unless you are talking about a pack which has been opened for a while, and as you carry on with your daily activities, the tobacco on each stick becomes loose so you need to knock on each individual stick before lighting up to bring the tobacco together, and that's in order to get the best smoking experience. As for new pack, there is no need to knock because the pack itself is airtight and is very compact, even if you move around, it won't become loose, in fact the act of knocking actually causes the tobacco to drop off, if you don't believe, check the inside of your empty pack and you will see plenty of loose tobacco at the bottom, in my pack, there's hardly any loose tobacco because I don't knock, so you see knocking is a waste of tobacco. So why do they do it anyway? Well, when I started smoking at 13 years old, I knock b

Finally Received My POSB Everyday Card (Update)

Previous post. Now I know how to use my credit card! I went to Sheng Siong, trying my best not to look stupid and told the cashier, "charge to this card", she took the card and did her stuff, then she took out a small writing pad with a pen, I asked, "sign here?", she smiled and said wait for the receipt haha, nabehz, first time use kena caught by her! Anyway next thing she took the receipt and asked me to sign on it and that's it, my first credit card payment completed. And regarding the EZ-Reload feature, I checked the terms and conditions and found that the auto-top can only happen once every 24 hours, quote: 2.3  Notwithstanding  anything  to  the  contrary  herein  contained,  the  Account  Holder  agrees  that  a minimum period of 24 hours must elapse between each Revaluation for each EZ-Reload by Card Enabled ez-link card. EZ-Link shall not be obliged to revalue the EZ-Reload by Card Enabled ez-link card with another Revaluation Amount until after

Finally Received My POSB Everyday Card

There's a whole bunch of documents that came with it, terms and conditions, guide on credit cards to tell me to use it carefully, some notice saying to safeguard the Singapore financial system bla bla bla, but they never show me how to use a credit card, but I guess I just need to charge it to the MasterCard, they also gave me a PIN number, I wonder what it is for, when I make payment I have to press the PIN number? The way other people pay by credit card is they give the cashier the card and sign on the receipt, now I'm confused, so how do I charge to my credit card? Haha, sigh really sua ku... I was surprised that they gave me $18,500 for my credit limit, wow, that's so much money, I don't even earn that much in a month, and that's more than 4x of my monthly income! No wonder so many people get into credit card debt, they give you more than you earn and with so much money at your disposal, it's really tempting to spend, I have to admit I felt tempted to go a
