What Causes Pain?

Why does she cry so much he asks himself, as her cries pulls him out of his concentration of trying to write something, what is he trying to write? He is writing this story, as he questions why, why does she cry so much. Is it due to pain? Does pain cause a person to cry? He doesn't cry when he is in pain, why is that so? What can make him cry? How long has it been since he last cried?

But does pain really make a person cry? Or perhaps it's just because she is a baby, but does that mean a person should cry in pain? What causes pain then?
