Back from Bangkok Part 1 of 3

Sigh, sian, back to reality again, had a nice time there because this time round we didn't stay at one hotel all the way, for 6 nights, we stayed at 3 different hotels so it was refreshing throughout.

So I'll break up my story in 3 part for 3 hotels. First hotel is Grand China Hotel @ Yaowarat Road a.k.a Chinatown.

Price: 2 nights including all taxes was S$102.35, I got one night free. Without the free night I guess total would be S$180-S$190, so that's about S$90+ per night.

I'll be blunt, the chinatown sucks, full of old buildings, mostly uninhabited I think, I wonder why the local government don't tear down all those old ugly disgusting buildings.

Our two nights happened to be on weekends, so the night markets are open, and it was crazy crowded, super packed with tourists, food is very expensive too, no aircon but price is like restaurant pricing, just for context, one simple fried rice 100 Baht. Anyway we ate at a road stall which served nice fishball noodles, 50 Baht a bowl.

Photos below.

Fish and co before we boarded the plane to BKK. I must say the fish at Changi Airport branch is larger in portion.

Yeah, arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport, start of the getaway ;)

Lobby of Grand China Hotel, looks quite nice, this hotel is like a gem in a giant trash bin. You will know what I mean when you visit. But it's a really old hotel, quite pricy too but well, in Yaowarat this standard is consider very good already.

Look at those queues, crazy.

This random fishball noodle stall was really good, and cheap, 50-60 Baht per bowl.

The crowd on weekends is just insane.

This Grand China Hotel feels really antique, the carpet feels quite freaky, I made sure we don't walk on it barefooted, actually I find the hotel really creepy.

The best part of this hotel, the king-sized bed, very comfortable, just nice for me, wife and baby.

The lift control panel looks like antique.

Another random stall, found this kway chap out of nowhere, really satisfying, make sure to add the sugar and vinegar to enhance the taste, some chilli if you like. One bowl 80 Baht so many ingredients, power.

MBK smoking room, best.

How can one go to Thailand and not eat at their MK Restaurants ;)

How can one go to Thailand and not eat their ready-meals from 7/11 ;)

This ham is not so nice, don't buy this, buy the CP brand better.
