How to edit hosts file in Windows 10

Steps

  • Click the Windows logo at bottom left of desktop.
  • Search for "Notepad".
  • Right click on "Notepad" and select "Run as administrator":
  • Select "File" > "Open":
  • Navigate to: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
  • Ensure document type is changed to "All Files (*.*)".
  • Select "hosts" file and click "Open":
  • Add an entry at the bottom, for example: 192.168.10.1 myhomerouter.com
  • Save the file:
  • myhomerouter.com is now mapped to 192.168.10.1:
