Undervolting CPU and GPU
I read some good things about undervolting CPU and GPU, seems able to get more or less same performance but using less power and in doing so reduce temperatures, so I decided to try it out and got some nice results.
Tools required for undervolting CPU
- ThrottleStop: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-throttlestop
- Intel XTU: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/17881/intel-extreme-tuning-utility-intel-xtu.html
- MSI Afterburner: https://www.msi.com/Landing/afterburner/graphics-cards
- Heaven Benchmark: https://benchmark.unigine.com/heaven
Using the Heaven Benchmark to run benchmarking, before undervolt, Afterburner was showing 1800MHz and 80 degree near the end of the benchmark. After undervolt, it maintain around 1845MHz and at most 78 degree but usually hover around 74-76. Well at least it didn't get stuck at 1800MHZ and 80 degree. Anyway mine is the GALAX 3060 Ti (1-Click OC), it's one of the cheapest at S$899, so don't expect too much.
I'm also getting a new case fan, it's supposed to fill in the gap below the graphics card, so maybe it will help to reduce GPU temp a bit more.
