Opened Crypto.com Mobile App Account

Recently I was thinking of how to put my spare cash to use, having built up over several months after selling all my stocks back in May 2021, at a total loss of -S$17,538.45, and this is after deducting all the dividends. Looking back, I started buying stocks in Nov 2012, so from then until May 2021 is about 8 years and 7 months, it's like paying S$170+ per month for lessons... Oh well, moving on.

While looking at what other investment I can try, I took a look at crypto, seems pretty flexible, found this youtube video from this "Kelvin Learns Investing" guy and got started from there (guy has humour haha).

If you need a referral code to sign up, you can check out his video description. If you want my referral code, you can use this link to sign up, it's also super easy to google for a referral code online, plenty of people sharing their referral code. You can read more about this promo at the crypto.com official site. The catch is the person getting referred needs to sign up for a Crypto.com Visa Card in order for both parties to enjoy the bonus.

I am using the Kelvin's referral code, currently still exploring, buying a bit here and there so not yet getting to the signing up for Visa part (need to "stake" a certain amount).

I also signed up for the StraitsX account, took around 2 days, it could have been faster, at first Crypto.com didn't approve because the name on my NRIC didn't match the name on StraitsX, and my NRIC name has brackets because it has my Hanyu Pinyin name (also have Chinese characters but they don't care about that, only the English part), so I requested StraitsX to update to be exactly same as my NRIC name and then Crypto.com approved after that. So make sure your StraitsX name is EXACTLY same as the document that you submitted when you register for your Crypto.com account (Passport or NRIC), example below:

The Name on NRIC:

TAN KIM MENG

(CHEN JINMING)

陈金明

Then your StraitsX name must appear as: TAN KIM MENG (CHEN JINMING)

The Chinese characters can ignore, they just check the English alphabets only. If the English alphabets is not the same, you can submit a ticket at StraitsX to get them to change.

Anyway while waiting for the StraitsX link to be approved, Crypto.com has a 30 days 0% fee for App users, see more details here: https://blog.crypto.com/0-credit-debit-card-fees-for-the-first-30-days

Update: I signed up for the exchange, seems like the referral is different, this is my exchange referral link: https://crypto.com/exch/nfabeasgs3

By the way if you want to use Kelvin's code, his works for both app and exchange, anyway for my app and exchange both I put his code haha.

Hi happy to know that you have started into crypto. I have been following your blog since the beginning, have a Vietnamese wife myself.

I am into crypto too, more towards DeFi side as its possible to earn a stable daily passive income. Looking forward to seeing you evolved soon into that too.

Take care,
Dave

I'm learning to use Crypto.com too. Wonder if there is any difference between using the phone app and the website? Does Crypto.com charge any fee for withdrawing cash into bank account?
Hi Jimmy,

There are 3 variants:
1. Crypto.com mobile app (blue logo)
2. Crypto.com exchange mobile app (black logo)
3. Crypto.com exchange desktop version (https://crypto.com/exchange)

1 is the simpler version but it has higher buy and sell spread.

2 and 3 are generally the same as both are exchange. The spread is the same.

It is more economical to buy or sell via the exchange.

Crypto.com charges US$25 when withdrawing to bank account via SWIFT transfer. There is no charge for deposit.

For Singapore users, we have the option to sell crypto (e.g. USDC) to our Fiat Wallet which is then converted to Singapore dollars. After that we can withdraw to our bank account via FAST transfer at no charge. There is no charge for deposit via FAST.

Hope it clarifies!
