Thinking of Upgrading Phone

I bought the iPhone 8 Plus 64 GB for my wife back in Nov 2017, my own iPhone 8 in Apr 2018, both more than 5 years already.

Wife's phone got change the battery in Mar 2022 so her phone is still working well whereas my phone seems to be getting slower, maybe nowadays the apps getting more intensive or maybe because my battery maximum capacity dropped to 76%, and my screen feels so small compared to wife's because hers is 8 Plus so bigger screen.

Now looking at iPhone 14 on Shoppee, got promo at S$1330 for the 128 GB version, then 25th-27th Jun got promo, not sure if it will be even cheaper.

By the way if buying from Apple store online, the 128 GB version costs S$1513, a S$183 difference.

iPhone 15 is rumoured to release in Sep 2023, hmm, actually to us don't really matter since our phones so old already, 14 and 15 are both major upgrade for us, more importantly this time I must get at least a plus so that the screen is larger, easier to see TradingView charts.

Then my wife's 8 Plus give daughter to play haha, mine maybe can give mother-in-law, her phone super old and worn out but cannot bear to change, they are simple and thrifty people so don't like to anyhow spend, I think change the battery then good to go already.

25th Jun is Sunday, later go Shoppee see, if drop below S$1330 will definitely consider. Anyway I searched online seems like only difference is made in Malaysia, warranty is international.

Price savings aside, found this pretty damning article about Shoppee, this year somemore: https://mothership.sg/2023/01/iphone-plastic-bag-parcel

Request for refund rejected

Yu subsequently contacted Shopee's customer service, and put in a request for a refund as per the officer's advice.

However, Yu's request was reportedly rejected by Shopee.

The platform cited the reason that the parcel had already been "delivered to the address indicated in the order" and that "the payment released to the seller".

The guy paid S$1961 for iPhone, didn't receive the phone then refund still kena rejected, have to make police report, go to newspaper and mothership, go through all that trouble and stress, only when it becomes a PR issue then Shoppee wake up with the response, wtf?

Shopee's response

Speaking to Mothership, Shopee shared that the incident has since been resolved:

“We are in contact with the affected Shopee user, and have apologised to him for this distressing experience. We have also processed a full refund which he opted for over a replacement phone."

I always thought Shoppee customer service is good, but guess the aftersales is a whole different story.

They should remove the "Hassle free returns" on their website, utterly misleading.
