New Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam

Not surprising, he is one of the most popular if not the most popular politician in Singapore but personally I voted for NKS because I kind of saw LKY in him, aiyah actually no diff la, not as if the president is able to do anything, our president different from other presidents, our president cannot meddle with government policies or politics.

I think the only real use of the president is to act as the key to our reserves, in case the government go rogue, still must go through the president and his/her advisors before our reserves can be utilised, but then if both the government and president go rogue then gameover, that's why it is very important that the president is fully neutral, but I think most important is incorruptible and integrity.

CNA did a few videos on our reserves, those give a good idea of our reserves and why we need it, after watching it, I realised that our reserves is so very important and must be well-guarded and continue to be topped up for the generations to come, but of course in times of crisis it must be properly utilised to help the country and its people, that's the whole point of saving for rainy days.

Good to remember this Chinese saying:

坐吃山空, or rather 只坐着吃，山也要空
