8 Months Never Update
My last post was that wife going for her heart surgery, been about 8 months since then.
Reason why I didn't post as much was because a lot of things going on, new job, baby just finished surgery, key collection for BTO, wife's surgery, sell resale flat, move house.
But now ok, everything settled, should have more time to post my ramblings. Also thinking of going for a holiday, long time never travel, but recently got earthquake, don't know should visit wife's hometown or not.
New job
Compared to last job, travelling time much longer, have duty roster for 24x7 standby, a lot of things to pick up, good thing is my past experience helps a lot so most of the work is not difficult, just at worst tedious. Benefits not bad, even my wife and daughter's specialist visits all can claim, only thing cannot claim is their surgery due to pre-existing condition, weird right. But applying leave got limitation, and management very out of touch, see how, maybe find new job, travelling time total around 3 hours or more depending on luck, can use this as reason for finding new job.
Baby
After surgery got follow-up appointments, recovered well, then move house have to change school, cancel school bus, apply new school bus. Tried to apply directly to the nearest school at new house but no response, ended up contact her old school and submitted the form to MOE to request for transfer, this is much faster, this way easier to manage the transition. By the way daughter transferred school in Feb 2025, not during school holidays, because my old flat have to handover keys and I didn't want to let it drag too close to the end of the extension of stay.
New house
Supposed to collect keys on 30 Aug 2024, ended up me and parents all cannot collect because we needed the funds from old house to pay new house. Then we quickly looked for agent to help to sell, lucky the agent very experienced and nice, we sold quite fast and price also not bad. Then finally collected keys to new house on 14 Jan 2025, then did minor renovation, bought furniture, moved house, transfer school, handover keys. I didn't really do much renovation, only did concrete kitchen sink and stove support, then bought most furniture from IKEA, some my father bought for me like bed and roller blinds, he also paid for the concrete kitchen, because he sold his house for a big profit so he insisted to pay everything for me but I managed to pay the large bulk of it myself. Overall I spent less than $10k. But most important is the new house fully paid off using my CPF and sale proceeds from old house, so no more loan.
Wife
She went for her valve replacement surgery in Nov 2024, this time they put in a larger valve, good thing everything went well, MIL also came to help out. Now she's doing well. Her bill is $87181.28, after government subsidy for PR is $44727.01, then deduct $16861.32 from Medishield Life, finally I paid $18650 via CPF and $9215.65 via credit card ($0.04 rounded off).
