New House in Tengah

So my new house i.e. BTO is at Tengah, a new estate, not fully complete, still have a lot of construction going on, can see there's still more BTO blocks coming up. There's also the building of the new JRL MRT (Jurong Region Line).

My flat itself is nice, have some minor superficial flaws here and there but me and wife don't mind and don't bother as long as not safety issue or very obvious crack or window cannot close, so the only defect we reported is the service yard folding door dislodged after a few weeks of use, I have booked appointment for HDB contractor to fix.

The block also nice, no multi-storey carpark, the carpark is at level 1, so residential units start from level 2 onwards, makes the whole area feel very spacious. My block have 3 lifts, I think nowadays 3 is the standard if I'm not wrong.

Then around the block, it comes with cycling and walking paths, a lot of open space, not like old estates design until can walk cannot cycle, can cycle cannot walk.

Amenities not bad, there's a mall with food court and supermarket and quite a lot of shops around the mall, also have a clinic and Daiso, there's also a Coffeebean, KFC, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Subway, machiam like the typical shopping mall. The mall is connected to the community centre. There's also an upcoming MRT station right in front of the mall.

But there's no schools yet, not even pre-schools, no places of worship, no dental clinic, no bicycle shop.

The transport works but very crowded during peak hours, only 4 bus services, 870, 871, 992 and 674, would be great to have more bus services and routes.

By the way we are using the Centralised Cooling System, so far so good, no leaking. The good thing is no compressor, so save a lot of electricity. But got one problem is when we use the Cool mode at 25 degrees, there will be a smell the next day when we switch on again. I checked with SP customer service the guy told me if we set 25 degrees (which we did), the aircon will automatically toggle to fan mode when the temperature reaches 25 degrees which can cause the smell due to condensation. So end up we don't use the Cool mode, we use Dry mode and set at 24 degrees, so far this configuration works well and is consistently cold and helps to lower humidity, there's still the smell though but not as bad and long lasting as before.

I think it will take another 4-5 years to fully build up with schools, MRT and whatnot, but overall now I'm quite happy.
