Ng Kok Song

[LIVE] Presidential Forum with candidates Ng Kok Song, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Tan Kin Lian:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIyQ3oH8rEg So before watching the video, I kind of already decided to vote Tharman, I mean who else right, seriously who's going to argue. First of all, Tan Kin Lian, wah my hair stand, a bit cringy for me, but I can feel his pro-people vibe. Then Tharman, aiyah, sibeh foggy sia, machiam talk from east to west, then west to east again, then horlan, also don't know what he talking about, disappointing, kind of awkward, he spoke eloquently but something just didn't feel right, kind of like trying too hard not to say the wrong things then end up not saying the right things. Maybe some will like his style, but not me though, I like to hear concrete stuff. Finally this Ng Kok Song really impressed me, previously he kind of gave me the lao tiko cum pedo vibe but the way he carried himself in the video and the way he spoke, wow, very concrete and coherent...

Singapore Getting More Expensive

Every weekly visit to Sheng Siong, price of day-to-day stuff goes up, some go down but generally most go up, our weekly groceries shopping can easily hit S$125 or more, sometimes don't buy as much also around S$96+. Next year GST also going to 9% on 1st Jan 2024, 1% GST means at least 10% or more increase on the ground, so if your Koufu two veggie one meat cai png is S$6.50 now, next year don't be shocked at S$7 or S$7.50. Good thing still have hawker centre, but they also increase price although not as bad as those aircon food court. My salary don't even increase at this rate. Every few months government give the small little things to help offset inflation, it doesn't entirely help but still better than nothing, but life getting really stressful here. Sigh, tired.

Binance Coin (BNB) Fell Below US$220 Support

The last time it touched US$220 was in Jun 2023, and the previous time was back in Dec 2022 after the FTX collapse, I wonder what is going to happen next.

George Goh Disqualified

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/george-goh-rejected-singapore-presidential-election-committee-explains-reasons-companies-3708521 1 down, left 3, so 01 Sep have to choose among Tharman, Tan Kin Lian and Ng Kok Song. Basically if applying as private sector candidate, the requirement is 1 company with at least S$500M in shareholders' equity and have served as CEO for at least 3 years. George Goh applied with 5 companies for a total combined shareholders' equity (according to him) of S$1.52B, but he got disqualified mainly because none of his 5 companies have equity more than S$500M. Like that very hard for private sector candidate to come forward, those who run S$500M company probably get paid very well with the bonus and whatnot, why bother running for presidency where pay might even be lower. Come on la, let's not lie to ourselves, serve the country? Don't bullshit la. In Singapore money is number one. Vote or don't vote also don't matter, Tharman guara...

Bitcoin Crashed to US$25253

Image
Yesterday it crashed around 12% and today recovered to around US$26500, but I think more pain to come, I have experienced this before, all too familiar, when a big pullback comes, it usually is not the end, that's why there's a meme out there, dip of the dippity dip. I got hit last year, listened to all the stupid shillers and bought all the way down, this time not so stupid, I only believe in myself, facts and data, once bitten twice shy, now I hold mostly USDC and USDT. US economy don't look so good, Fitch downgraded US debt rating to AA+, US indexes down ever since, US core inflation looks stubborn, Fed will need to continue rate hikes, this will have global impact. China's Evergrande filed for bankruptcy yesterday, who knows which Chinese company is next or already collapsed but cover up, just look at the rotten tail buildings, we hardly see those reported in news, how many in reality nobody knows. US crashed the world economy in 2008, maybe this time China will do ...

https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/the-10-5m-dilemma-how-one-woman-handled-a-crypto-cash-error-in-her-favour-20230811-p5dvph.html Summary Thevamanogari Manivel, a 41-year-old Malaysian national. Manivel pleaded guilty to recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime after currency giant crypto.com mistakenly deposited $10.5 million into her Commonwealth Bank account, instead of a $100 refund. Manivel had returned more than $8 million and settled with the crypto company, but not before she tried to transfer millions overseas and fly out of Australia with $11,750 cash. Another person opened an account on crypto.com and that $100 was deposited into it from her Manivel’s bank account. Detecting the inconsistency between the name of the account and origin of the funds, crypto.com said it would refund the money to Manivel. When a company staffer went to process the refund on May 11, 2021, instead of putting $100 onto the transfer document they typed the account number, 10474143. The err...

Went for Root Canal on Tooth 35

https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2023/07/went-for-dental-follow-up.html Today went for root canal treatment, the experience is very similar to the time when I did pulpectomy. The pricing is very different though, somehow root canal costs a lot more, I guess because it's more thorough maybe? And also my tooth 35 happens to have two canals, usually only one, so the doctor got to charge more since it's more effort >_< Costs Root canal treatment, S$972 Chemo-mechanical preparation of root canal - one canal Chemo-mechanical preparation of root canal - each additional canal X-ray, S$43.20 Adhesive restoration for tooth 35, S$145.80 Total: S$1161 4 weeks later have to go back, I think it's to put the permanent filling and a crown if required, wonder how much the crown is going to cost, probably around what I paid today. Kns, dental treatment so expensive, cannot use CPF, CHAS also totally useless, don't understand.

Fitch Downgrade US Credit Rating to AA+

https://www.fitchratings.com/research/sovereigns/fitch-downgrades-united-states-long-term-ratings-to-aa-from-aaa-outlook-stable-01-08-2023 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_government_credit-rating_downgrades The last time US got downgraded from AAA to AA+ by S&P was on 05 Aug 2011, stocks, oil and Bitcoin went down, then gold went up, the dollar index eventually went up. This time Fitch downgraded the US from AAA to AA+ on 01 Aug 2023, I wonder what will happen, will history repeat? Anyway I have standby some cash to buy the Bitcoin dip.
