Time to Pay Tax Again

Last year I paid $493.48, this year I am supposed to pay $272.58, so much lesser than last year even though this time my chargable income is slightly higher, that's because of a 50% tax rebate, it's part of Singapore Budget 2015, this is helpful, $200+ might not seem like a lot but it can pay for more than 2 months of my utilities bill. As usual, I pay online, so easy, I wonder how people in the past pay their income tax, do they go down to some office to pay or what. Nowadays with internet so readily available, stuff like paying bills is made so easy, all at a few clicks of the mouse.

Ginger Tea, Cause of Baby's Jaundice

Today we went to see the paediatrician and also did a few tests, this time the test results improved, even jaundice also dropped to 200, this one whole week wife didn't take the ginger tea as instructed by the doctor last week, so I'm pretty sure the cause is the ginger. As she is breastfeeding, whatever she eats gets passed to baby, so the ginger also passed to baby. At first doctor thought it might be due to liver blockage but after examining baby physically and looking at the results, everything seems normal, doctor also thought might be due to red blood cells damage but physically doesn't seem to be the case. Later she will call me when she get the full blood count result. The doctor also said fully breastfed baby can have jaundice that lasts longer than usual, so I'm not worried. The only thing that I'm worried is when they need to draw blood for the tests, baby will cry until like so painful, so heartache but I tell myself it's something that has to be

Government Top-up $500 to Baby CDA

So on 24th Jun I topped up $500 to CDA, today I checked the account and there is $500 extra, it was top-up by MSF on 08 Jul, so now baby's account have $3500.04, the $0.04 is the interest for Jun. I think later they will top-up another $2500, making the total to $6000, now this is really helpful, I can use it for so many things for baby, but I try not to utilize it, if possible I want to save it for her post secondary education, in future education will be even more expensive, and it's not easy trying to work and study, like me I got my degree working full-time and studying part-time, those were siong times man, I remember going to classes from Expo MRT to Jurong East MRT, finish class then take train back to Tampines, really very shag. Looking back, it's been 11 years since I ORD from army, time pass so fast, if I didn't get my degree, I wonder what I will be doing now, probably still working at the warehouse, every year increment is $50, by now my basic pay should

Baby Seems to be Trying to Talk!

She is now 48 days old, going to be 2 months on 20 Jul, now she is starting to make those gaga sounds, I think soon she might be able to talk! I'm hoping she can learn to speak Thai from my wife, I will speak to her in Mandarin and English, and maybe she can learn some Hokkien and Teochew from my parents, so when she grows up she will know quite a few languages! Anyway I think if she can speak Thai, English and Mandarin, it will be very helpful for her, maybe some day she can be an interpreter.

Penang Street @ NUH Again

Last week we went to eat at Penang Street, today we went again but today was quite a disappointment. I ordered their Roti Canai guess what they gave me, two instant pratas and a small bowl of curry sauce with 2 small pieces of potatoes inside, like that also can. Other than that, we also ordered marmite squid which is not bad, fried carrot cake not as good as I thought, our local version definitely better, wife ate char kway teow, but I still don't understand how come they serve instant prata, is that how roti canai is supposed to be? I don't think I ate roti canai before but from what my friends told me, roti canai is the same thing as our roti prata, which I presume should be handmade. And I am definitely not mistaken, I am a prata lover, instant prata tastes completely different from handmade pratas, also look very different, although you can try to squash it like the indian chefs do but taste and texture can never be mistaken, by the way today they served unsquashed so I

Brought Baby to NUH Clinic A Annex

Today bring her to see the paediatrician, he did some physical checks and said baby seems fine, most probably the jaundice is breast milk jaundice and he offered two options, one is to stop breastfeed for a week and put baby on formula, if jaundice goes away, then can confirm it's caused by mother's milk, the other way is to continue breastfeed but have to closely monitor, wife wanted the latter option so we have to go back again in two weeks time. Doctor also ordered a liver function test and a urine test, the liver function test have to extract blood, just now baby was crying profusely, cry until no strength, the nurses had difficulty extracting blood from her hand so they tried her feet and finally they managed to get the blood, but it's so traumatizing for baby, hopefully don't have to do it again, at least not in front of us, they did the test before when she was hospitalized for jaundice, I think that time she also cried so hard. But what needs to be done has to

Baby Jaundice 234

This morning brought baby to polyclinic to check her jaundice, they did 2 tests for her, one can get the results now the other they have to send to SGH. So the normal test shows 234, doctor is wondering why it didn't go down since baby is now one and a half month old, but I think it's because of breastfeeding, my wife is exclusively breastfeeding, no formula, I read on the internet this is is called breast milk jaundice and it should go away by 12 weeks, hope so. Actually 200+ is nothing serious la, provided baby is healthy, but doctor is concerned so he referred baby to NUH paediatric gastro department to check her liver, he want to make sure baby liver is okay, I think while baby was in NUH, they probably tested it already but no harm testing again. And today they weigh baby at 3.4KG, wow grow so fast, just last week was 3.1KG, seems like one week she can grow 300grams, another 3 months she will be heavy to carry lol. Anyway after the consultation, we went to eat

Top-Up $3000 to OCBC CDA

So that day I opened the CDA with OCBC and deposited $500, today I got my OCBC internet banking access all set up, so I went to my DBS iBanking account to do a fund transfer. I was thinking whether to put my name or baby's name, I remembered actually account is opened under my name for baby, so I put OCBC bank, the account number and my name as recipient. I used the FAST transfer, really fast, after transaction completed, I logged into the OCBC account and I saw a total of $3000, the transfer is immediate. So later when I receive the next $3000 from government, I will also top-up to CDA, this is to save for baby's future, hopefully don't have to use too much so this money can go to her education account. I hope one day she can study in our NUS or NTU, don't be like me, secondary school dropout, but well, not doing too bad now with a private degree but if I went to a good university, I probably can do even better, who knows. Truth is, if family is not rich, then edu

Made $247.06 Buying and Selling SGX

I bought 1 lot of SGX on 08 Jun at $7.95, sold it yesterday for $8.25 and made a small profit of $247.06. Yesterday suddenly surged to $8.26, so I quickly sold it during office hours lol, also good chance to free up some cash, I think stock market will adjust downwards more, the Greek crisis doesn't seem to have an end in sight, I wonder whether they will continue to stay in eurozone, see how, now better to have more cash.

Penang Street @ NUH

Just now before seeing wife's cardiologist, we went for lunch at Penang Street @ NUH Medical Centre. They have quite a selection of famous Penang street food, deserts and beverages, char kway teow, prawn noodles, chendol, milo dinosaur and etc. We ordered: Chendol with soya milk $4.80 Milo Dinosaur $2.80 Their signature nasi lemak $9.80 Char kway teow $8.80 Fermented chicken $6.80 I think all are great, I like the nasi lemak, the rice is so soft and cooked just right, the fried chicken is freshly fried when ordered, sambal chilli also power. Total bill came to $38.84 including service charge and GST. I find that I might as well eat here than eat at the Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe at level 2, that one is more expensive and I don't find their dishes nice, maybe only the chicken chop curry noodle is nice but the rest is so-so.

Seen Wife's Cardiologist Today

Nothing much, just take a look at baby and also check wife's heart beat, to see him in 6 months time, but he is concerned with changing my wife's mechanical valve because he doesn't think it will last too long, and wife still have to continue her Warfarin and Aspirin medications. Now we will follow-up at polyclinic for adjusting her Warfarin dosage, probably next month I will go return the coagucheck test kit, finally it is over now, this baby really didn't come by easy, the paediatric cardiologist say she is miracle baby haha.

Thanks to All My Visitors!

Recently I noticed increased earnings from my Adsense, seems like my visitors have been supporting me well, so thanks everyone for the support, I will continue to update this blog regularly so that hopefully my experiences can help people. Looking back, it's been a long way, phew, so many things have happened since I started this blog 4 years ago, thankfully, most have been for the better so I am very glad.

Baby Jaundice Up Again

Today went to polyclinic, baby supposed to get her Hepatitis B Dose 2 but her jaundice is 222 so nurse say cannot give, she say must be below 100 then can give. So Monday need to go back again, doctor also cannot find anything wrong, liver test everything normal, I am guessing it's breast milk jaundice, I did some research online and found that it should go away be 12th weeks, but need to follow-up closely to ensure the jaundice level doesn't go too high, if too high then probably have to go hospital again. Overall baby is well, she is also gaining weight, 3 days ago she was 3KG, today she is 3.1KG, that means she is feeding well. She is also getting stronger, her kicks are now stronger and she seems to have more control over her neck and hands. But breastfeeding really not easy, for baby's case, wife have to feed 2-3 times every hour, but there are some sleep times where baby will sleep for a few hours so that is good chance for breaks, it's hard to determine when

Seen Paediatrician Today

The doctor did some basic tests, he said baby is well, just need to follow-up with the paediatric cardiologist, to see him 3 months later. So glad that baby is healthy, only heart have some issue, everything else is normal, that is great! They also weighed baby, today is 3KG, last week was 2.7KG, that means baby is feeding well, wife breastfeeding is good enough, baby's tongue also seems less yellowish compared to last week, now her tongue looks more pink, her body also looks more pink.

Standard Chartered Bank No Longer Accepting New CDA Account

Yesterday I opened my mailbox and saw the authorization letter from MSF to open the CDA account, the letter is dated 17 Jun 2015, it stated that I can bring the letter, my ID card and baby's birth cert to OCBC or Standard Chartered Bank to open the account. So this morning I went to the Holland Village branch, since today I am on childcare leave, thanks to government for the 6 days haha, anyway I wanted to open the account with OCBC but that branch opens at 11am, I was there at around 9.30am, so I thought I might as well try SCB since it's just beside and it opens at 10am. I waited until 10am and went in, the teller told me they no longer open CDA account, I was so surprised, so I asked her if other SCB branch can open and she said all no longer open, ok, so I called the baby bonus hotline at 1800 253 7707, the lady apologized to me and told confirmed that SCB no longer accept new account request, she told me to try OCBC and said that there will be new agent bank for the CDA

MIL and Wife's Cousin Leaving Soon

They will be leaving the day after tomorrow so today I went and bought some Bak Gua for them. I bought 1KG of Lim Chee Guan ($50) and 1KG of Fragrance ($40), two different brands for them to try but personally I prefer the latter because it's softer, and cheaper lol. I also changed 4000 Thai Baht for them, the exchange rate was 1SGD to 24.93THB, also saw that 1SGD is 2.80 Ringgit, lol drop until so low, I think 3 Ringgit coming soon, the Malaysian government also don't seem to bother much so 3 Ringgit very possible, luckily I'm not Malaysian, heard some many negative stories about the country from my Malaysian colleagues, if me I quickly get PR here and never return. Anyway I also intend to give MIL $100 SGD for them to buy something on the plane home, if never use then they can change to Thai Baht at Thailand airport. Initially wanted to give a $1000 Ang Pao but MIL don't want, and I thought $1K is very little already, considering she cleaned my house, washed my cl

Went to Sentosa, Merlion Park and MBS

Next Wednesday MIL and wife's cousin is going back to Thailand, so this morning wife said to bring them around and she said Sentosa and the casino. So we took a taxi to the casino at the basement, they didn't go in because they are not in the dress code, so ended up they took some pictures outside, me and wife don't want to go in because have to pay $100 each, no point since we don't gamble, but I saw so many Chinese, they come in tour group lol. Next we went upstairs, I was very impressed with the environment, it's so beautiful, the view is magnificent, if go behind the Sea Aquarium can even see cruise ship, the cruise ship is massive. Today I was really impressed, it's my 4th time to Sentosa, first time was very long ago when I was still in primary school, next two times was company dinner and dance but I didn't tour at all, just ate and go home. Sentosa is really a very nice place but it is obviously a tourist trap, one can of coke or the small bottle

Good Dinner at Yum Cha Chinatown

Just now me and family went to Yum Cha Chinatown, total 7 adults, 2 kids, 1 teen and my baby, the bill came to $471.30 including GST and service charge, really eat until super full, I think order too much, in the end my sister's family probably managed to finish the rest as me, wife, baby, MIL and wife's cousin left early because baby tired. I ordered 10 of those Guan Tang Jiao, this one damn good, the soup is really power, one serving is quite big, actually can just order 5 and share. One serving is $8.80. Also ordered a chilli crab, I think it's a really huge crab, also ordered 10 Man Tou (10 pieces for $10), I think just the crab and Man Tou can eat until full already. The crab is $86.40, I think it's charged by the weight. I don't eat crab so I don't know whether it's good or not, but I guess it's good since in the end family ate finish. Then there is the Peking Duck, I don't find it nice, they cut the skin and wrapped with some sort of yel

Tomorrow Baby Full Month!

Actually I don't know why the full month is such a big deal, my parents think that it is very important, for me it's just another day, if I get to choose I probably won't bother with any celebration, maybe just a good meal at a restaurant will do, to me most important thing is wife and baby are healthy. Initially my mother wanted those catering buffet, I said can but I don't want to collect ang pao, people come just eat and share happiness, mother say if I don't want then she collect, then I said no, where got such thing, I hold buffet she collect ang pao then later people full month I have to go give back ang pao, what a hassle, really don't understand this ang pao thing but I believe there is no such thing as take for free, people give me I have to give back, then even more pointless, see how pointless it is. In the end I booked a table at Yum Cha Chinatown, yeah love the food there, really looking forward to going there, so just eat, finish I swipe card a

HDB Automatically Added Daughter as Occupier

We have such great systems, seems like government agencies share our data around, even HDB knows that I have a daughter now, they added her as an occupier, I noticed when I login to the HDB page, was thinking of adding her now no need to add haha. Speaking of housing, been living here for almost a year now, I wonder if my estate will get enbloc, if can then great because now that I have a daughter, we will need a room for her, surely she can't be sleeping with us when she is bigger, I think until 4-5 years can, older then she should have her own room. Maybe wait MOP see how, if never enbloc then I might just try for sale of balance, BTO have to wait, pay a bit more never mind, I don't like to wait.

Got a Good Bonus, Increment and Promotion

Finally I got my second promotion after 4 years in the company, first one was when I submitted my degree, my pay that time increased by about 29.5%, this time my pay increased by about 14.1%, way better than I expected, I was expecting around 4-5%. As for bonus, I got around 3.43 months, also way above my expectation, was expecting around 3. I certainly feel great now, my boss even called me to congratulate me, he said double happiness since my baby was born last month, but of course he would have already known since he was the one who recommended me by giving me high rating. Personally I feel that my wife and baby brings me success and good luck, my life certainly improved significantly after marrying my wife, initially was tough of course, that time was earning $2200, still have to pay study loan of $268 a month, but it all got better afterwards, now my pay will be increased to $4500, it may not seem much to some people but with this pay I think I can give my wife and baby a co

Seen Paediatric Cardiologist Today

Went to NUH Clinic A, the nurse weighed baby and came to 2706 grams (or 2702, didn't see the last number clearly), birth weight was 2369, about 14% increase over 26 days, I think it is not bad but the doctor said she is underweight, she encouraged us to help baby gain more weight, at least 700 grams over the next 1 month. I think probably because baby didn't eat enough, so I asked doctor if I can buy formula to supplement breastfeeding and she said ok, she also prescribed multivitamin and iron drops. The vitamin and iron drops only $1.40, I was quite surprised how come so cheap, then I see the bill total price is $20.79 less $19.39 subsidized by government, seems like baby medications are heavily subsidized, that's like 93% subsidized. So just now I went to the NTUC at Medical Centre and bought the Enfamil A+ Stage 1, it's the same brand as the one they use when baby was warded so I think she can accept it, 900 gram tin for $59.10, baby milk powder so expensive,

Went to Yum Cha Chinatown

Brought MIL, wife's cousin, baby and wife to Yum Cha, food there is great as I remember it, this was my second time there, first time was with company. Still not used to the system, usually we sit down, get a menu and order food, it is different there, you sit down, they ask you what tea you want, they have so many types of tea and I heard Pu Er, Long Jing and Xiang Pian out of the many types of tea the waitress said in quick succession, so I ordered a pot of Xiang Pian ($3.60, 2 quantity, think it's 2 teabags or something). So instead of getting a menu, they will give you an order sheet, it's to keep track of what we have ordered and then they have push carts going around, for steamed food, for fried food, for Pau, for Cheong Fan, porridge and etc. Once you selected your items from the carts, the person in charge of the cart will note down in your order sheet whatever you ordered. All are great but what really captured my attention was the You Tiao with Mango and Pra

Baby Bonus $3000 Credited to My Account

I just checked my bank account online and noticed an extra $3000 in my bank account lol, I thought how come haven't payday have more money, go checked the details actually from MSF meaning it is part of the $6000 baby bonus, that means still have $3000 more, $1500 in the next 6 months and the final $1500 in another 6 months. Now I'm waiting for the letter to open the CDA account, will use the $3000 to top-up to baby's account, this is saving for her future. I think when she grow up she can still use the same bank account for her own savings and uses.

Hope Can Get Promotion and Fat Bonus

This year company doing well, I think can get at least 3 months bonus, boss also recommended promotion for me, hopefully can get it, wonder how much increment I can get this year, 5% also not bad but if promotion I think more than that, how much I don't know. Hope baby bring me luck!

Wife Running Fever Since Saturday

By the time we realized it, clinics have already closed on Saturday, they only open in the morning on Saturdays, so wife ate paracetamol, it helped to reduce the fever but it won't go away. It got worse on Sunday, her underarm temperature reached 40.7 degrees, but clinics were closed on Sunday, wanted to bring her to A&E but she refused for fear of getting hospitalized again, MIL blamed it on the longan and red date drink that I bought for her but I don't think that is the cause, I think it's more to do with infection, that's why she have a fever, it's how the body deal with infection. So today I checked her temperature and it was 39.8, brought her to Queenstown polyclinic, they gave her a priority queue number so didn't have to wait very long. The doctor examined her and doesn't think there is infection, told us to come back 2 days later, I asked whether he can give any antibiotics, in the end he ordered a blood test, he said to wait 1 hour and I sai

Utilities Bill $86.42

This is for period of 05 May to 03 Jun. My MIL and wife's cousin came on 01 May, baby came home on 26 May, wife was hospitalized from 05 May to 26 May though, but somehow the bill isn't as high as I think it would be lol, I was expecting $200-$300, no idea how come it's so low, the last bill was $77.77, by the way I checked there is no rebate, it's the full billing. Just on Friday I spoken to one of my co-workers, his bill is usually $200+, sometimes $300+, he have 6 children so total 8 people in his household, I guess more children will use more water and electricity, maybe children don't yet understand how precious these resources are.

Baby Discharged and Looking Good!

Today I called her ward and the doctor said her jaundice dropped to 155 and baby is doing fine, she also said baby can discharge so I quickly called my wife to pick her up. Two days of not seeing baby and I miss her already haha, today when I saw her I am very happy, her cute little face make me smile ;)

Went to NUH Gynae

Today took half-day leave to accompany wife to gynae to check her c-section wound, everything is fine, wound is healing fine and they removed the bandage, wife can now shower, actually she can shower even with the bandage but need to waterproof, anyway too late, she haven't shower since 20 May lol, but of course she have been cleaning herself with warm wet towel. Wife say still have slight pain sometimes but wound have closed, but still got to take it easy, cannot let her carry heavy stuff, lucky MIL is here, it is indeed essential to have someone to help out after pregnancy. Wife also mentioned period seems to have returned. Anyway we also dropped by baby's ward, she is doing great, jaundice have dropped to 190 from 281, they are going to continue the photo-therapy until 10.30pm, tomorrow should be able to discharge. And yesterday while going through the wife and baby hospital interim bills, I noticed that baby was charged citizen rate from delivery day to discharge, I a

Baby Hospitalized!

Actually it's not that serious, today wife brought her to polyclinic and the jaundice reading came at 281, so the doctor gave another referral letter and told wife to bring baby to A&E. So I left work slightly earlier and brought wife and baby to NUH Children's Emergency, I think total waited about 2.5 hours and they finally sent baby to ward 48 sunshine nursery. They will do the photo-therapy for baby, not sure how long they will keep her, I'm guessing maybe 2-3 days. At least tonight wife can get a good sleep, breastfeeding not easy, can see she is very tired.

Baby Jaundice at 258!

Today went to Queenstown Polyclinic to check her jaundice again, suddenly it rise so high, the nurse took blood sample from baby's sole, I think very painful because baby was crying, but she stopped once we stepped out of the lab, good girl. The doctor gave me a referral letter to NUH A&E and told me to bring baby there tomorrow, I think have to admit her because I read that NUH do not offer home phototherapy, think maybe have to be warded for 1-2 days. After that we went to West Mall, very nice mall, not so crowded and good variety of shopping options, we ate at Sakae Sushi, 4 adults total around $108 including service charge and gst, lol I thought will cost at least $200 because me and wife usually spend around $80-$90, somehow 4 person it becomes cheaper, weird, maybe because we didn't sit down too long, wife had to feed baby once and coax her to sleep so we didn't really ate that much.

Baby Jaundice is now 229

Today wife, MIL and wife's cousin brought baby back to polyclinic for the check again, this time dropped to 229, tomorrow will need to check again, hopefully will continue to drop which means baby is more capable of getting rid of the bilirubin in her body. Just now also went to OG at Chinatown to buy a baby stroller, damn strollers are expensive, the very basic type cost $60-$80+, more functionality more expensive, I bought one which can let baby sleep or sit, can switch handle bar to front, easy folding, lightweight, have a bottom slot to put stuff, it costed me $299, can carry baby up to 15KG, the saleswoman say can use to around 3 years old. There are also more expensive types which can cost $400-$500+, but those are very heavy, some seems to have less function, don't know why they are so expensive, maybe it's the material. Anyway now have baby lifestyle changed quite a lot, sleep earlier, wake up earlier, wake up in middle of the night, go out have to think of how

Baby Went for Jaundice Check at Polyclinic

Wife, MIL and wife's cousin brought baby to Queenstown Polyclinic to do the test, the result was 243, the doctor said to review tomorrow because it is high, hopefully tomorrow will drop. MIL also brought baby for some sunlight, I also instructed wife to feed more, I think probably the cause is baby was born earlier at 36 weeks + 2 days. Anyway baby seems very happy in the house, sometimes smiling and hardly crying, she cry only when hungry, previously she cry when changing diapers but now she doesn't. Her eyes also started to open more frequently, so cute ;) Today my colleagues also gave me a big ang pao, feels quite thick, I gave it to my wife, not sure how much is inside because I never open to see. Yesterday also went to buy 4 more baby clothes, the short sleeve type, 4 for $11 at CK, find that it is very useful, no need shorts because wear diapers and put on a few blankets, the mitts also useful, cap is ok, but just wrap is good enough, can wrap the head so cap

Wife and Baby Discharged Yesterday

Supposed to discharge on 25th May but team doctor say wife INR 1.9 so have to stay back, don't know why INR suddenly dropped from 2.3 to 1.9, I think because of the food my mother brought, the broccoli, cauliflower and sesame oil, all contain vitamin K. Then yesterday they checked and it was 1.92, they wanted to keep her but I insisted that she be discharged, I said if 2pm they don't discharge I will bring her and baby and leave the hospital, so they hurried and get ready her medications and discharge documents. After that the team doctor came and told me they wanted to do an echo for her before she go, he said have to wait until 4pm I said no, then he came back again and said they can scan now so I relented, shouldn't have agree, in the the scan finished at around 4.30pm, by then the nurse said have to wait for doctor review, I fed up take bags and ask wife to carry baby and we walk out lol. At the counter I asked the nurse if there is anything for me to sign if not

Lucky Can Get Extension

This morning I brought MIL and wife's cousin to ICA at around 8am+, also long queue at level 4 but lucky clear quite fast, I went to the same counter staff and told her this time I brought everything and she said MIL can but wife's cousin subject to approval, then she gave me a queue ticket. By the way I used back the same forms she gave me, filled it up so no need to fill again, just need to fill in the date, all signed. So we went inside and waited for queue number, also quite fast, they have several counters so no need to wait so long. Finally our turn, I told the officer I wanted to extend MIL and wife's cousin visit pass, I introduced and said the cousin is MIL's sister's son lol, she said huh and told me MIL can but the cousin cannot, then I started to worry, she then asked whether they travel together and I said yes, she looked at the cousin, he is 15 years old, then she frowned and seemed to be thinking, and then I explained that my wife gave birth last we

Wife INR is 2.3

After the c-section on 20 May, they put her back on Warfarin, wife said they gave her 4mg per day, yesterday I saw that they gave a blue tablet, which means 3mg, and today I checked with the nurse in-charge, she told me wife's INR is at 2.3, very good, I think very high chances that she can be discharged tomorrow, but I think they will probably drag until around 3pm+, so in the morning I can bring MIL and wife's cousin to ICA to do the extension. Hopefully tomorrow can get the extension, if MIL have to go back, wife say ok but I have to help, I think going to be very difficult, best is still have MIL to help out, if hire confinement nanny it will be very expensive, also don't think my wife want my mother to help. Anyway today baby kena jaundice, I think didn't feed enough, so the nurse put baby under the light, told wife to feed and pump so baby have enough to eat.

Super Long Queue at ICA

So yesterday MIL and wife's cousin social visit pass online extension got rejected, this morning I woke up at 6.30am and brought them to ICA. We reached there at about 7.30am, the security guard told everyone to queue up by the side entrance, they don't want people to crowd at the main entrance, end up the queue is ridiculously long, SG, PR, foreigners all one queue, can imagine how long, can fight with Hello Kitty queue, so instead of queuing, I brought them for breakfast at golden mile food centre, ate the Bak Chor Mee not bad. After breakfast, at about 8.30am, we went back and the queue disappeared as expected, we went to the ticket counter at level 4, queue also long but at least clear quite fast, finally our turn and the counter staff told me to prove my relationship with my wife, I didn't bring my ROM cert so cannot prove, she also asked about the cousin, that one I really stunned, then she handed me two form 14 and said, "subjected to approval lor", NB, m

Wife Still in ICU

Alamak, actually she is doing really well, now can eat normal food except food has to be soft like porridge, she also can sit on chair, think also can walk but they didn't let her try, these nurses really bo chup, they just wait for time to pass and handover to next shift, next shift also do the same, aiyoh these people really cannot make it, just now a nurse changed my wife's heparin and forgot to unlock the tubing and the liquid cannot flow in, the alarm went off so many times and the nurse also bo chup, finally I walked to the nurse and alerted her then she come, wah piang, ICU this kind of standard, I think patient die already they still don't know. Negative shit aside, just now I finally got to hold baby in arms, wah skin so soft, so cute, eyes closed, I didn't know how to pick up the baby, the nurse showed me, I think I can carry baby all day, then nurse want me to put back I don't know how to put back lol, want to stay with baby more also cannot, now mother

This Guy Really Anti-Foreigner to the Max LOL

Image
I really don't understand how some people can hate foreigners so much, even spouse of Singaporeans also hate lol. Well, life goes on, I can't stop them from being bitter all the time right ;) By the way the forum is sgtalk, it's getting worse, too many negative people there, most discussions end up in mudslinging and moderator doesn't seem to bother, maybe they gave up lol, if me I also give up, I visit lesser nowadays. That's why forum is never a good place for discussion, at least not our local forums, if you see ang moh forums, it's much more serious, they can discuss topics maturely and you can mostly get your queries answered.

Got Baby's SG50 Birth Certificate and Good News

Today the nurse at my wife's ward passed me the Notification of Live Birth, I didn't register at NUH, went down to ICA instead because I thought since I also need to extend MIL and wife's cousin social visit pass might as well go do together. By the way NUH charge $40 for the birth registration, ICA charge $18. No need to wait too long because not many people register birth today. Just for info, birth registration is at level 3. The birth certificate looks awesome with a message from our PM. Oh I also got the SG50 Baby Jubilee Gift box at ICA, they will ask you whether you want or not after the birth registration, at first I thought 5KG nothing la, when the girl brought out the box, wah so bulky, really regret taking it, might as well register online and they it send to me for free. But if you have car then ok. Everything seems useful except the medal, probably just keep the medal in my cupboard forever, I think a milk bottle will be much more useful. The baby clothes are

Forgot to Get the Notification of Live Birth

After I went home and checked how to register birth, found that need a Notification of Live Birth from the hospital, for us also need our identity cards i.e. my Singapore NRIC and wife's PR blue card, also need our Marriage Certificate, all must be original, also have to think of name first which I already have. More details here . So tomorrow have to go back to the neonatal ward, anyway I also have to go there first and pass my wife her phone, pack some stuff for wife, give her then go to neonatal ward and get the document and go to ICA to register, also might as well bring mother-in-law and cousin to golden mile complex since it is nearby. So remember friends, after your wife deliver, ask for the Notification of Live Birth.

Wife C-Section Success!

This morning I woke up at around 6.45am, took taxi together with mother-in-law and wife's cousin to wife's ward. The c-section was scheduled at 10am, a nurse came at around 8+ and prepared my wife, showered and dressed her in the operating theatre clothes, we waited until about 10am before they started to move my wife to the OT. Oh by the way they told my wife to fast from 1am onwards, no food and water. So we arrived at the OT, waited outside at the visitor's lounge, wife went in and the nurse told me they will call me when I can view the procedure. She also gave me a paper with my wife's patient code so I can track her progress from the screen inside the lounge. I forgot how long we waited and finally someone from inside the OT called me and told me to go inside, she told me to change into the OT clothes and she will call me when it's my wife's turn, she also said they will try epidural, I got a shock because yesterday the anesthetist told me it would b

Tomorrow is the Big Day!

The c-section is at 10am, they will bring her to the surgery ward at around 9am so I'll be waking up at 6.30am and bring her mother and cousin over. Just now the anesthetist came and spoke to my wife, once I arrived I went to speak with her again. She said my wife is not suitable for epidural because she is on Heparin and she is at risk of bleeding, so she told me my wife would be on general anesthesia instead, which is a full body anesthesia, the completely knock out type, which I think is good, save the pain, if I were to choose I would choose general anesthesia too. The anesthetist also said after the c-section, my wife would be placed in ICU for monitoring, hopefully all goes well and then her and baby can discharge by this weekend.

Wife's Urine is Now Yellow

Now I am pretty sure the reason why blood was in her urine was because of the IV Heparin, now that they reduced the dosage from 17+ to 15+, her urine started to become normal yellowish colour, they also did a kidney xray for her, don't think they detected anything, I was quite worried about the xray but actually nothing much to worry about if the person doing the scan knows she is pregnant, they will be more careful such that they don't scan the foetus. But now I have another thing to worry about, recently wife started to develop a cough, today was quite serious when I visited, must be she shared utensils with her cousin, I think pregnant women should never share anything with anyone, it's just 2 days to her c-section and she has a serious cough, I hope it doesn't develop into something more serious, sigh, one thing over another thing come, never-ending worries. Hope everything goes well, just 2 more days, please let us get through this safely.

Negative Comments Early in the Morning

Image
Look at this: 11 Negative Comments The first comment came at 6.01am, you can't see the time from the screenshot but I can see from my email because whenever someone posted a comment on my blog, I will receive an email notification. I am guessing it is from the same person, he/she posted 11 comments over a time frame of about 1 hour, at 6am+ in the morning, this person must be really free, nothing better to do, but I appreciate the hits he/she has given to my site so I still have to thank this person.

4 More Days to C-Section

Visited wife today and seems like she is doing fine, there is still blood in her urine but we have come to believe that it is not going to be a big problem, there is blood because she is on Heparin, she doesn't have any history of blood in urine so shouldn't be a big issue unless she really lose a lot of blood which obviously isn't the case. Nurse also did a scan for baby everyday and baby is doing fine too, just now I was there when the nurse did the scan, she was using a mobile scanner to listen to baby's heartbeat, it was very clear and had good rhythm, not sure if that is the way to know if heartbeat is good but if it is beating uninterrupted I guess it is good, anyway nurse also say good. While I was there, I also dropped by the patient services centre to grab a copy of the bill, so far the bill for 11 days of stay is: C class room charge: $2200 C class daily treatment fee: $1133 Lab investigations: $953.70 Specialised investigation: $130 Treatme

Wife Got Injection and Drip

My wife told me a nurse gave her an injection on her thigh this morning and told her it is for her baby, she is supposed to get another injection 11 hours later, so when I visited, I asked the nurse about it, nurse told me it is meant to help the baby's lungs develop quickly. I did a search and seems like it is a very common thing to do, it is some sort of insurance in case the baby needs to be delivered earlier than planned, no side effects if only one course is administered. Nurse also told me wife's blood pressure went down to 80+, so they put a drip on her to increase her blood pressure to 90+. But there is still blood in her urine, not sure if it is getting better or worse, still waiting for urologist findings, but overall her and baby seems to be doing fine. She also went for an ultrasound at the gynae, baby is 2.2KG, gynae says ok, google tells me normal range is 5.5 to 10 pounds, so seems to be okay, baby also doing ok. So 6 more days to the c-section, please le

Wife's Urine Still have Blood

So it has been 2 days since blood appeared in her urine, when I visited her just now there's still blood, doesn't seem to be getting better, at least it's not getting worse, I think the colour is the same as what I saw yesterday, maybe yesterday was a bit darker. Today I tried to contact her cardiologist but didn't manage to get him, the duty doctor called me up and said the gynae doesn't think it is serious problem, can't remember exactly what else the doctor said but generally he was saying it's not serious to the extent that they have to do something, they did send my wife's urine/blood sample for testing, he thinks might be some sort of infection or some other non-pregnancy related problem, he also called in a urologist. So just now I spoke to the urologist, he was at my wife's ward, he saw my wife's bloodied urine and he thinks it is mild, he was asking if my wife had any kidney stone previously, or backache, or urinary infection prio

Wife Had Blood in Urine (Now 35 Weeks)

Just now when I went to see her, she told me there is blood in her urine, she told me to go with her into the toilet, wow, it was all red, I also saw a piece of blood clot, so I informed the nurse about it. My wife told me it started this morning, she passed urine about 4-5 times today and every time was red. A doctor also noted this morning and the gynae is also aware, they sent my wife's urine for testing, now waiting for results. I asked my wife if she was feeling pain anywhere, she said no, only back ache but it comes and goes and we don't think it is serious. I also felt baby moving and kicking several times since I was there, my wife also said baby was moving all the time so I guess baby is doing fine, but I'm very concerned about the blood in her urine. I did some research and found that having blood in urine at third trimester is not a good sign, but fortunate thing is she is now in hospital, if anything urgent comes up, the hospital staff can help immediately.

Confinement Period After Birth

Time sure flies, 10 more days and my baby will be born so now I'm thinking about the confinement thingy. Just now my family visited my wife and my mom offered to help my wife during her confinement period. After my family left, I told my wife our Chinese custom of Zuo Yue Zi 坐月子 i.e. following a bunch of rules for one month, I also told her she is not allowed to go out or do anything, not even bring her mom and cousin to tour Singapore, then she got upset and refused to talk to me lol. So I thought about it, actually I don't know much about the confinement, everything I know I heard it from friends and my mom, so to pacify my wife, I told her she can follow her Thai customs or whatever she likes, then she felt better. I went home and did some research on this Zuo Yue Zi thing, found that the some of the rules are kind of absurd, no drinking water and bathing? What? For one month??? I get that women should rest after birth but to not drink water and not shower is really si
