Free Covid-19 Vaccine

https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/enough-vaccines-secured-all-sporeans-prs-and-long-term-residents-who-can-get-it-free-gan Wow, seems like all residents here will get the vaccination for free, except for tourists or short-term pass holders. Now that's cool stuff and really inclusive society, at least this time they didn't forget that some long-term pass holders are actually spouse or family member of Singaporeans. Now it's just a matter of when. Hope the vaccines arrive on time, everybody get vaccinated, then we can return to normal, hopefully can get back to normal before baby go to P1, really wish we can go visit my in-laws, bring my parents over too, they also getting older, should bring them over as much as possible.

Strange Virus

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/covid19-coronavirus-mar-7-cases-12512420 I read the article and feel puzzled, not just this, I read a few earlier ones about how people in SG got infected, I also puzzled. See of the 8 new cases, 6 didn't travel, 2 are imported, then of the 6, 1 mostly stayed at home also can get the virus, or maybe she walked past somebody with the virus who sneezed, or touched something, that means more people have but never report? I wonder how many actually report, how about those who kena, recovered, they probably don't even know their symptoms is actually from coronavirus, thought it's just the common flu because both symptoms are the same. Best is still avoid crowded places, seems like it's the best place for the virus or any virus to spread, keep hands clean where possible, drink more water etc.

Dorscon Orange

https://www.moh.gov.sg/news-highlights/details/risk-assessment-raised-to-dorscon-orange Yesterday company suddenly called for meeting, I busy so halfway run road already, end up it is to split our team into groups, like a buddy system, one work from home, one work at office, I think the objective is if office get hit with the virus, those at home still safe and can continue work. Heard from co-worker people buying out things at supermarket to stock up, don't know real or not, seriously really need meh haha, anyway I think it's safer for family to just stay in and not go out during this period, but work and school cannot avoid la.

Received Wife's Hospital Bill

One day stay at NUH class C ward. Total charges: $1800.30 Government subsidy: -$807.85 Amount payable: $992.45 Since it is just one day, can only claim $450 from my Medisave. Then the Medishield Life cannot claim because there is a $1500 annual deductible that needs to be met before they will payout. So now still owe NUH $542.45 in cash.

Still Haven't Receive Wife's Hospital Bill

Last month she was warded at NUH, now almost one month haven't see her bill in mailbox. I wondering how much, but for sure no need to pay cash, think all paid by CPF. She was warded one night at C ward so don't think it can cost much.

CoaguChek XS Meter Working Fine

Today wife went to do a blood test at NUH, INR was 1.3, then at the same time also checked using our meter, also 1.3, this means that the meter is still accurate, so I think previously why shot up so high is because we lost track. Before she was warded, last check was on 17 Sep and the value was 1.8, after that we checked at NUH A&E and it was 6+. I think safer is to check at least twice a month, if somehow meter doesn't work again then better go check at NUH or polyclinic. So now one thing for sure is that if reading is too high, for example 6+ then the meter will not be able to produce reading and may show QC or error 6. Today the cost for checking at NUH is $25, after subsidy is $18.75.

Something Wrong with Wife's CoaguChek XS Meter

Recently the device keep showing QC error, wasted quite a few test strips and still unable to get a reading, I think wasted like almost a bottle of the test strips, one bottle have 6 and cost $64.20 after GST. And that's how we lost track of her INR level. Should have bring her to NUH to check instead of waiting. Last Saturday when we went to NUH , I tried looking for the test strips at the Clinic A pharmacy but they don't sell, the pharmacist told me to try the one at the Medical Centre at level 3, good thing they sell so I bought two bottles. After that tried one and got error 6, I think it's because wife's INR was too high so the device can't read it and show error instead. By the way if you want to know more about the error codes you can see this link  for the user manual. I also found a link at HSA which says INR value  greater than 8 can cause error 6, but wife's reading was 6+ based on NUH A&E blood test but the meter shows error 6, very confusin

Wife Discharged from NUH

This morning went to see her at around 9+, she told me total transfused 4 packets of blood, then the doctor wanted to keep her until Monday but wife don't want, I also don't want. Then doctor wanted to arrange for an O&G check up, suspect her menses causing blood loss. So drag until almost 12pm, I told the nurse she have until 12:30pm to settle everything, once time up we walk out. Think she feel the urgency already quickly get ready the documents. Then also make wife sign an indemnity paper in case we turn around and say they never do their job, this is fine, we insisted on leaving so of course won't hold them responsible if anything happens. Now wondering how much the bill will be, based on what the NUH A&E told me, one packet of blood cost up to $1000, so 4 packets can cost up to $4000, didn't know blood worth so much money. https://www.hsa.gov.sg/content/hsa/en/Blood_Services/Transfusion_Medicine/Blood_Transfusion.html From the HSA link, seems like b

Wife Warded at NUH

Image
These few weeks she keeps complaining about feeling very tired, her face also very yellowish, then yesterday she told me to bring her to polyclinic. So this morning woke up early and decided to go NUH A&E instead, thinking that there is a chance that we will be turned away at the polyclinic since today is a Saturday; we did get turned away once or twice, staff said Saturday they only accept appointment, no walk-in. We took a taxi to NUH, reached at 9+, the A&E very empty so registered very fast, upfront have to pay $115. After the nurse examined her, she was quickly sent to a doctor, me and baby was told to wait outside. After a while, the doctor called me in, told me wife's blood level very low (3. something out of 11. something), and her INR level 6.1 or 6.7 which is very high, and she recommended sending wife to ward for blood transfusion. Wife of course not keen to stay in hospital, I also reluctant because doctor told me might need to stay until Monday, if like t

Sudden Abdominal Pain

Image
Today early morning around 3 AM+ suddenly woken up by an unbearable pain at my abdominal area, pain until cannot go back to sleep, woke my wife up to see if she have any medication, she gave me some pills to try but no help. Previously I also experienced similar pain and she gave me some liquid Antacid after that was ok, unfortunately ran out of this magic liquid, she bought it during our Phuket trip . So I quickly went to the 24 hour Sheng Siong, bought one pack of Actal tablets, ate two but still pain. Then really no choice, I took taxi to NUH A&E, reached there around 6 AM. Now A&E price increase to $115, used to be $108, but for my case I think quite ok because they did quite a number of stuff, see the Total Charges $342.30, and I only paid $115. They did the following: Oral medication to stop the pain, a combination of liquid Antacid, Gaviscon and 3 pills. Blood test. Pain killer via 2 injections, one is painkiller another is to counter the vomiting side e

Update on Usana

My last post on Usana. So I consumed for about one week, the sore pain on my lower left back is gone within the first few days, this sore pain haunted me for a very long time so I am glad that it's finally gone. But other than that, overall my lower back still aches on and off but recently was worse, not sure if it was due to drinking too much coffee or my bed getting softer so it is not supporting my back sufficiently. So since a few days ago, I have cut down on coffee consumption, I also changed to a harder bed, I also stopped taking the Usana, and my back seems to feel better. I think what I can gather here is that Usana is useful I guess since it got rid of that long running sore pain for me, but it's not a miracle pill which can solve every problem, good lifestyle habits is more important.

Usana Scam or Really So Good?

Image
My mother is selling the Usana brand of products, say until very incredible, for example someone with leg pain after eating no longer have leg pain. Then say can help with gout, help with back pain, cleanse the body and etc, sounds like magic lol. Since I have lower back pain on and off (recently getting a bit worse), I decided to give it a try, she say it will help, and it's not that expensive anyway, two bottles for $70, one bottle is fish oil, the other is calcium. The ingredients looks just like any other supplements, nothing special. Just now after lunch consumed one capsule of the calcium and one capsule of the fish oil, and a while ago consumed another calcium, so far no miraculous effect yet but my lower back seems to feel better, hope it's not placebo effect, have to monitor for at least one week. To be honest I don't really believe so good but since my mother is selling and she is quite persistent, just support a bit lor, but if really can solve my back prob

Cough One Month Finally Getting Better

During my last holiday , my daughter passed her illness to me then I end up coughing for more than 3 weeks. I tried robitussin red, woods all no use, keep coughing all the time. They only gave very short relief but after a while the cough come back. So recently I tried the Huiji Herbalmint Cough Syrup now I feel so much better. Last time the robitussin works but now not effective anymore. I think if kena cough, good to buy different types of cough syrup, if one don't work try another one.

Wife Went for Echo Scan

Today went for echo no consultation, bill around $200+, end up can pay by Medisave so pay $0 cash. Found that there is a withdrawal limit on such claim, one year can only claim $300 which is quite strange but good thing every year only need to scan maximum twice so not too bad. Anyway wife intend to go for heart operation to replace her faulty heart valve, next week see the doctor then request for it, hope can get an early date, then have to plan for her mother to come to help take care of baby.

Bloated Stomach (Due to Indigestion?)

Saturday morning woke up with a bloated stomach, inner pain at left tummy, first time kena, pain until don't feel like doing anything, almost want to go to hospital. It lasted all the way till late night, cannot sleep, then wife gave me some antacid, it's some white colour liquid, after that feel so much better. This morning woke up and a lot of gas was expelled or you can call it fart, a huge one and and I feel so much better. I remember last thing I ate on Friday night was Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ice Cream, I think it's too thick so might be the cause of indigestion. While I was having the pain, realised that at that point even if I have a lot of money also useless, health is much more important.

Yoga Pigeon Pose

My lower left back ache comes and goes and today suddenly got worse, can't even jog properly, not really sure what is the cause, at first thought it is kidney problem but don't have any of the symptoms, just ache at lower left area, I thought by sleeping on a good mattress it will help but not so much. So just now after my jog, I googled some yoga moves for lower back pain, the pigeon pose helped a lot, after doing it I can feel my blood flowing to my left side, my left leg, wow, I did for both legs. Now feel so much better. If you have lower back pain can give it a try first before seeing a doctor.

Yoki Cough Syrup

Image
This one bottle I think 30+ Baht, damn good, drink one day my cough gone. Unfortunately only left two bottles at the store if not I buy more.

Now My Lower Left Back Pain Gone

After sleeping on new bed for 3 months, the pain at my lower left back is now gone, sometimes will still ache a little but it is just ache not pain so it is a huge difference. In future when I move new house, I'll be sure to invest in a really good bed, maybe import one from US, sounds expensive but actually it is cheaper than getting a full latex bed in Singapore, here one full latex bed I think at least $2500 depending on the size. Speaking of new house, need another 1.5 years before I can buy, have to meet the minimum occupation period, sigh.

Went to Bed 11 PM, Wake Up 12 PM

Yesterday 11PM ate 1x 25mg Hizin and went to bed, only felt legs a bit light other than that still don't feel as sleepy as doctor suggested (she said if eat 1 cannot wake up then eat half, I suppose it is some strong drug). 11.30PM ate another 25mg, felt a little more kick but still not sleepy. 12AM ate another 25mg, this time felt sleepy, itch on arms felt less intense. Somehow woke up at 1.30AM, felt super drowsy but notice that the burning sensation on both arms were gone, rash seems to have subsided significantly. Thought might as so ate another 25mg and went back to bed. Total ate 100mg of Hizin. I read online 100mg is for sedation. I managed to sleep until 6AM+ and got woken up by intense itching all over, especially arms and lower back, like kena bitten by thousands of big red ants. Really at a loss of what to do, pace back and forth between kitchen and living room, thinking want to drop by polyclinic before they open. I then tried eating 1x Telfast 180mg and 2x Predniso

Super Itchy Rash

Image
Last Monday I saw a GP for a patch of rash on my tummy, actually it has been there for quite some time, probably several months, lost count, but got so large and itchy until I cannot take it then I go see the doctor. Other than the rash at tummy, my torso, back, arms, fingers and legs also felt a bit itchy, but not as itchy as tummy. The itch at tummy can be described as super itchy, takes a hell lot of willpower not to scratch it, the rest kind of random, come and go type so still quite bearable. The doctor thinks it is my belt buckle, mine is a metal buckle, not sure exactly what material though, he advised me to change to plastic buckle, gave me some Telfast and Melomet, told me to make sure I apply the cream. I did as he advised, changed to a plastic hook kind of belt (improvised by wife), put on the Melomet cream as prescribed, now the tummy itch is totally gone and the skin area seems to be recovering. The Telfast didn't help with the body itch though, still the same after
