Just finished the NumPy tutorial and got an 84% for the quiz. Not bad. By the way NumPy means Numerical Python, it is one of the many Python libraries.

No News from Binance

https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2022/06/applied-for-job-at-binance.html I applied for a job at Binance two days ago, still no news yet, hmm, I think maybe because they are such a huge organisation so they probably have tons and tons of applicants, or maybe they don't need my skillset haha. Well they did mention "Please note we aren't able to respond to all applications." in the email. I'm thinking if tomorrow still no news, maybe just turn on my Jobstreet profile and let the recruiters help me look for job, so many companies and positions I also don't know where to start but I do know the recruiters are pretty on the ball, I believe they get a commission for every successful hire.

Home Loan Interest Rate Up

https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/banking-finance/dbs-raises-2-year-fixed-home-loan-rate-to-275-per-annum-highest-among-local-banks https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/mortgage-rates-singapore-rise-what-should-homeowners-do-cna-explains-fed-hike-2781191 "Maybank economists Chua Hak Bin and Lee Ju Ye said that with the Fed’s latest dot plot guiding for another 175-basis-point rate hike to 3.5 per cent by the end of the year, the three-month SIBOR could reach 3 per cent at end-2022 and the three-month SORA may rise to 2.75 per cent. " "Singapore corporates and households should brace for a big interest rate shock , as Singapore short-term interest rates will move sharply higher given the Fed’s aggressive rate hikes" "Mortgage rates could climb to about 4 per cent by year-end – levels not seen for almost two decades. Rising financing costs will likely eat into consumer budgets and cool the property market." If you look at the following link, the curren...

45 Years Jail

https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/record-45-years-jail-paedophile-raped-8-children-1933611 "Two of his eight victims were only five years old when he began raping them. This typically took place in their own homes, his home or in public locations such as toilet cubicles in malls." Wah seh, first time I see 45 years jail in Singapore, but after reading the whole article, I think it's a waste of taxpayer money to feed him for 45 years, just hang this bastard. This guy really scum of the earth, preying on 5 year old kids, wtf.

Sad Story of Difficult to Get Along

https://tnp.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/grandfather-84-and-granddaughter-14-found-dead-bukit-batok "...the girl was a Secondary 2 student who lived with her parents and grandfather." Somehow I feel a connection to this story. I imagine 7 years forward my daughter would be in Secondary 2, my parents would be in their 70s, we would have moved to Tengah, me, my wife and daughter would have our own 3-room flat, my parents would have their own 2-room flat right next door, I strongly believe this is the best outcome. There is a Chinese saying: 相见容易相处难 Directly translated it means: easy to meet, difficult to get along with Based on my personal traumatic experience, I can tell you this saying is very true. One year meet a few times versus everyday meet is very different. When me and wife were still living with my parents, every 2-3 days get into conflict over the smallest things, sometimes between my wife and my mother, sometimes between my wife and my sister, most of the time be...

Koufu @ Tanglin Halt is Nuts

https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2022/06/inflation-is-ridiculous.html Just a few weeks ago, I felt the inflation when I bought the economy rice at Koufu, today my wife went to the same stall to buy one plate of rice, 3 veggies and 1 sotong, SG$7.60. Sotong only 3 pieces, have no idea how they charge. Then when I buy the drinks, one iced milo and one Fanta grape for SG$3.80, wah seh, even if the iced milo is SG$2, then SG$1.80 for the Fanta grape is crazy. I think we will avoid the Koufu from now on, it's just ridiculous the way they increase prices, just eat at hawker or cook at home way cheaper, I always prefer hawker food anyway, that Koufu happen to be more convenient because it is right beside the Sheng Siong. At the same time I wonder what our government is doing about this inflation, found this post:  https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/government-economy/singapore-to-release-s15b-support-package-as-energy-prices-stay-high I wonder how much it will help, will Koufu ch...

Jun 2022 School Holiday Ending

Daughter will start school on 27 Jun, in case you are wondering, she is in P1. I think she had a good long break, even though we didn't manage to visit MIL, maybe Dec see how, but I think wife's passport will be expiring soon by then, so need to renew earlier. For the whole month, daughter play Roblox, watch TikTok, wife got her to practise Chinese reading and writing, there's also a Student Learning Space (SLS) from MOE, there are several online interactive homework, finished all the May and Jun ones, I see some are Apr and earlier, daughter says the teacher already covered those in computer class so I let her skip. Currently daughter can't speak or understand Mandarin, problem is at home we don't speak Mandarin, write she can only follow based on what her Chinese teacher taught her. I should really start speaking to her in Mandarin. Personally I think Mandarin is useful, but writing Chinese not so much, I can't remember when was the last time I wrote in Chines...

My Java Still Not Bad

Image
https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2022/06/hmm-binance-still-hiring.html Yesterday was talking about the Java position at Binance, so today I went to refresh my Java knowledge, went through the whole Java tutorial at W3Schools . The tutorial is very solid, simple and straight to the point, should be very easy to follow even for beginners, I wish I had this tutorial when I started learning Java. I did pretty well in the quiz lol, actually the quiz is very easy, go try and you will know. Reminds me of when I started learning Java back in 2004, that time I borrowed books from library, also learn from the Sun Microsystems Java Trails website, very confusing when I started, it was over the years working on many Java projects that I slowly understand the concepts, mainly by reading other people's code and practising. I started with Java 1.4, today the Java roadmap is up to 21, Java is always evolving, never-ending learning haha.
