Undervolting CPU and GPU

Image
I read some good things about undervolting CPU and GPU, seems able to get more or less same performance but using less power and in doing so reduce temperatures, so I decided to try it out and got some nice results. Tools required for undervolting CPU ThrottleStop: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-throttlestop Intel XTU: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/17881/intel-extreme-tuning-utility-intel-xtu.html Using the Intel XTU to run stress test, before undervolt it was 90 degree. After undervolt, it dropped to 80 degree. So this worked nicely. Tools required for undervolting GPU MSI Afterburner:  https://www.msi.com/Landing/afterburner/graphics-cards Heaven Benchmark:  https://benchmark.unigine.com/heaven Using the Heaven Benchmark to run benchmarking, before undervolt, Afterburner was showing 1800MHz and 80 degree near the end of the benchmark. After undervolt, it maintain around 1845MHz and at most 78 degree but usually hover around 74-76. Well at least it

Bought Windows 10 Professional Retail Key Online

I finished assembling and setting up my new PC and also setup my Hades Canyon for my daughter (also clean and repaste), totally forgot about the operating system for the new PC. So I went online to search for cheap keys, found this site:  https://www.allkeyshop.com/blog/buy-windows-10-professional-cd-key-compare-prices Finally ended up buying at  Royal CD Keys for 2.67 EUR which is about 4.18 SGD. If you are wondering what's the difference between OEM or retail key, the main difference is there's no support from Microsoft for OEM keys, whereas retail you can call Microsoft for support, but then again how often does one actually call Microsoft, Windows 10 is very stable and easy to install. Other than that, OEM key are selling slightly cheaper, if the above doesn't mean anything to you, then just go for OEM key, no point paying that extra if you are never going to need support. Ultimately, no point paying a few hundred dollars for an operating system especially for home PC,

Just Bought a New Computer

Image
Recently was looking for a new PC to replace my Hades Canyon which I bought in 2018 . I compared quite a few places like Aftershock, Mansa, Dreamcore, Lenovo, Dell, and finally decided to buy at Sim Lim Square because it is cheaper and no need to wait for months, also to clarify, the local ones no need to wait too long, only those big brands have months of waiting time due to part shortage. So these are the parts: INTEL I7-11700K S$559 (wanted 11700 but no stock) MSI H510I PRO WIFI S$235 (H7 Plus cpu cooler won't be able to fit in, blocked by the IO heatsink) T-FORCE VULCAN 3200MHZ 2x16GB CL16 S$210 SAMSUNG 980 500GB NVME M.2 S$112 GALAX RTX3060Ti (1-CLICK OC) 8GB (LHR) 8GB S$899 COOLERMASTER NR200P WHITE S$139 (wanted the NR200 but no stock) LIAN-LI SP750 SFX 80+GOLD S$159 CRYORIG H7 S$60 (wanted the H7 Plus but heng no stock) SICKLEFLOW 120 WHITE LED PWM S$15 (wanted 3 but I didn't say 3 so they ended up packing only one, heng because the NR200P comes with 2x120mm fans, but n

Bought CoaguChek INRange Meter for Wife

Image
https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2015/08/bought-coaguchek-xs-meter-for-wife.html I bought the old model CoaguChek XS in 2015 for S$1070, and it finally gave way, checked with manufacturer and they say it is not repairable, so no choice but to buy a new one. This device has served us well for 6 years, saved us a lot of time, energy and money. Now they have a new model CoaguChek INRange which uses the same test strips and this model is cheaper at S$787.50. I managed to buy it at NUH Heart Clinic @ Level 3, if you need, you can walk in and buy the meter and the test strips together, no need prescription. It is also available at National Heart Centre. Panasonic Retrenchment

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/panasonic-employees-retrenched-refrigeration-compressor-manufacturing-2197001 I think cost of worker in Singapore is too expensive, that's why Panasonic go elsewhere, I think in future these production line jobs more and more difficult to have in Singapore. But then it's also weird that production goes to other countries, but other countries their skilled workers come to Singapore, then their skilled workers compete with our skilled workers, our low-skilled workers no job, maybe I think too much but I certainly hope this is not the case. Also I notice these days youngsters the salary damn high, fresh grad I heard get S$5000, haha I don't know work how long then get that salary, times are different now.

Received S$100 Grocery Vouchers

https://www.mof.gov.sg/news-publications/press-releases/160-000-singaporeans-to-receive-grocery-vouchers-in-october-2021 Now they give door-to-door, like this also better, so that idiots cannot go steal other people's vouchers, this is as good as S$100 cash because you can use it at places like Fairprice or Sheng Siong and other major supermarkets. I think people in Singapore quite fortunate, in these difficult times at least the government will extend help, not a lot but better than nothing. I heard from my wife in Thailand this is unheard of. Anyway stay safe everyone, most important is health.

Got a Huge Increment Out of Nowhere

So last month I throw letter, then last week boss called me in to talk, then today boss told me HR will send me a letter regarding my salary increment, and today HR really send, I can see this boss really have a lot of clout in the company, he can make things happen, definitely not the talk-only type, so fast so furious. Last week he told me around 20-25% increment, this week immediately increase by 23%, really speechless and surprised, never encounter something like this before, but I really appreciate that they recognise the effort I put in, it's not easy to find a company which knows how to appreciate staff, oh man, want to run also not so easy now... hopefully the company will go in exciting directions, if new things to learn then can stay long. Still find it unbelievable, like seriously wtf.

Logitech G304 (White) Arrived!

Image
https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2021/09/ordered-another-logitech-g304-white.html It arrived yesterday, comes with a free mouse pad too. The feel is a bit different than the black colour one, I think the material is a bit different, seems to give better grip but generally both my black and this white one is amazing, probably one of the best mouse ever made. It's got a really nice white colour, really love this mouse, very difficult to find a replacement I guess.

Finally Found the Cause to My Network Auto Disconnect

Image
https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2021/02/bought-ugreen-usb-30-to-rj45-gigabit.html https://marrythaigirlsingapore.blogspot.com/2021/03/network-didnt-disconnect-any-more.html I notice my network card sometimes auto switch between 100Mbps and 1.0Gbps, every time it does that, the network will be disconnected and then connected. This is happening regardless of using the UGREEN adapter or the built-in network card. Then I realise it could be an issue with the ethernet cable, too long or maybe it's dangling and affecting the quality or cables are just shit quality? Really no idea why. Last time I used a 20m CAT6 , then changed to a 15m CAT7 , I'm just guessing it's too long, it's running from my main door to my room so it's quite a distance. Good thing my Hades Canyon comes with Wifi, I just moved my router more centrally and now I'm using Wifi, seems to be more stable but of course not going to be as fast as 1Gbps, most importantly it doesn't switch a
